Overview

Injustice Gods Among Us: Year Two has been a very jam packed series with loads of great action, even more than its predecessor. Even though there is more action than emotion in Injustice Year One it can still deliver great emotional moments. You will see the bonds of Barbara and Jim Gordon grow and crumble in moments end. You will see the dynamic conflict of the Green Lantern Corps fall apart from a war with the Yellow Lantern Corps and Superman. You will also see how the great rivalry between Black Canary and Superman grow. So, I believe this has been a great series and I hope that these great character relationships I mention will convince you to pick this series up. It’s been a great ride and now we are reaching the climax between the Green Lantern Corps vs. the Yellow Lantern Corps.

Story

After the battle between Black Canary and Superman, Superman finds out he has been recorded and broadcasted over the news Superman causes to wreak havoc on the Green Lanterns. As this is happening Sinestro is influencing Hal Jordan to cause his own hell on the Green Lantern Corps as well.

The Good

Tom Taylor does a great job of how fear can influence the characters to do dangerous things, even things they wouldn’t normally do. There’s great dynamic of Superman and Black Canary that continues to grow. It’s also great to see how Sinestro’s influence can instill in the minds and hearts of Jon Stewart and Hal Jordan.
The art team does a great job on the characters emotions especially with Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Guy Gardner, and Jon Stewart. You can really see how these characters’ feel great rage, fear, and jealously in their hearts. You can also see a lot of different shades of yellow. It really represents how strong the yellow energy runs through these characters.

The Bad

I think there could have been more dialogue or backlash for Hal to show more emotion of jealously and hate to grow towards Guy. It really felt too easily convinced for Hal to believe what Sinestro was saying. Maybe a few more words could have been more convincing like Superman was doing for an example. I also feel that the deaths between the characters are happening too rapidly. There’s no room for characters to convene how they feel about seeing their friends dying and I feel like one character’s death should have been left for the next issue to give the character some breathing room. It really feels like this issue is being rushed. So, they are trying to get rid of three characters deaths in one issue.

Theme

The theme in this issue is influence, which can be good or bad depending on who or what it can come from. Good influence can let out the real you and overcome your fear and achieve greatness while bad influence can cause you to not think things through and can let fear, rage and jealously over run you into doing things you are not.

Verdict

I give this issue a 4/9 out of 5/10 stars. It does a great job of how much power can the Yellow Lantern rings can bring into someone’s mind. Sinestro has great dialogue to bring bad influence over Hal Jordan. But I feel there should have been more dialogue with Hal Jordan to give more emotion effect and convince us a little bit more about why Hal would believe Sinestro. It’s one of many reasons why I was a bit over the fence over this issue. The art is great on the face expressions and you can really see and feel what the characters are feeling. I also feel there should have been more distance between character deaths to give more room to mourn them. But overall, this is a really good issue and it’s worth picking up because seeing these characters fall apart will have your hearts torn and it sets up for the final issue of this chapter next week.
