For anyone who didn't read my "How Man of Steel should have been" because of it's length, here is a much shorter version.
I am not saying that Man of Steel was a bad movie. This is my version to what I think could have been.
The first 20-25 minutes of the movie are on Krypton.
So first thing first, Superman gets his powers from the yellow sun, and that's way people on Krypton don't have powers, because their sun is red.
Kryptonian’s most powerful solider, Zod and his unit accidently comes across a yellow sun, and then Zod realizes that the sun gives him powers. He learns to control these powers, so as his wife, Faora.
Zod understands that the Kryptonian council lied to the people, and so he goes back to Krypton and leads a revelation.
Zod wants to turn Krypton's sun into a yellow sun (Krypton has a red sun). He takes Jor-El's wife and son (Kal-El) as hostages so Jor will build a machine that will do the trick.
Zod calls all the Kryptoniens back to the planet, so the entire race is there.
Jor and Jax-Ur (Zod's loyal scientist) build this machine, but the machine is very unstable and Jor fears it will destroy the sun (and Krypton), so he plans an escape from the plant, and uses his prototype teleportation technology, that uses green Kryptonite. Jor fears the exposer to the green radiation will kill his son, so he puts Kal into a pod.
Zod orders Jax-Ur to start the machine that will transform the sun. Some thing goes wrong, and the sun is about to go supernova. Zod goes with Jax, Faora, and Nam-Ek (the big guy) to stop Jor from leving and planet, and make him fix the machine.
By the way, Zod and Faora have a son too.
But the sun sends few massive flares that cripple all the ships, and we see massive ships go down and crush, so no one escapes the planet with a ship. The only was off is by Jor's device.
Zod and Jor fight, as the green energy starts working around them. Faora throws Lara out of the energy (which has a round shape), and then the sun blows up, destroying Krypton and killing everyone.
The ones that are still inside the energy are the only survivors. Zod gets really crazy, and stabs Jor, and then the energy goes to faster then light speed, and takes them to Earth (while baby Kal-El is in a pod).
Zod and his people crush to Earth, but soon realize that they don't have powers anymore, because they were exposed to the green kryptonite radiation. Kal's pod takes him to the Kent farm. By the way, the green energy blows up in the sky, and many green rocks full down.
