Okay, so this is my second article within 24 hours. I'm not trying to make a statement that you guys will be seeing too much of me or anything, I just have a suggestion to put out there.
So, there has been nothing but speculation that Catwoman might be in the next movie and even more speculation of who would take on the role in the final Nolan-installment. It's going to be hard to try and beat out Michelle Pfiefer.
So far I've heard Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Megan Fox, Rachel Weisz, Rose McGowan, and Kate Beckingsale. I really don't want any of these for Catwoman. I think Angelina could do it, but I think it would bring an unneccesary amount of glamour and press to the project that I don't want. No one would be surprised if Ms. Jolie could pull it off, and Rachel, Charlize, and Kate I could see. I wouldn't mind them but wouldn't want them either; While Megan Fox and Rose McGowan are gorgeous until they open their mouths to speak.
(Btw, I don't know if anyone saw the Eminem/Rihanna music video "I love the way you Lie." but Megan Fox was in it. She did really good and was gorgeous, but I think its because you didn't hear her talk.)
Now, I have a few ideas to throw out at you and I don't think either one of them has ever been mentioned before. First of all the stunning Reese Witherspoon.
Now before anyone completely rejects this, hear me out por favor. Okay, I'm going to start my argument with Heath Ledger. Now, before The Dark Knight even began filming and news broke out that he got the role of the Joker I for one was pissed. I didn't think he could do it. I humbly admit that I was wrong. But I know that I wasn't the only one in the world who wasn't thrilled that initial selection until he proved us all wrong.
Now, Reese Witherspoon has a good resume. She has pulled in a lot of good movies; the action/adventure/comic book genre isn't something she's been famaliar with so her interpretation of the character would be a surprise. The reason why I feel like she'd be good for this portrayal is because of her starring role as June Carter-Case in Walk the Line. She was very true to an influential character that had a lot of fans. I think she would go through what's necessary to own this part.
My other argument: Reese Witherspoon is hot. Let's be completely honest here. Regulation MILF. She has the appeal Selina Kyle possesses: the body, the smile, those eyes - she has it. And she's one of those actresses who didn't try to monopolize her talent from her looks. Megan Fox relies on it. She doesn't. I feel like if she got the part they would put more focus onto her character rather than the inevitable skin tight unitard that would be catsuit. She would still look amazing in it, but they wouldn't rely on the sex appeal alone and they wouldn't try to go completely hollywood and skank it out; No offense Halle Barry.
Now, the argument I'm going to use probably hasn't been used too much - so I'm going to try. Heath Ledger was very good looking, but you didn't see his looks - he didn't rely on them in any manner but yet SO many of my girl friends thought he was so 'sexy' as the Joker. He had an unintentional effect, while being true to the character. I think Reese Witherspoon could do that too, even though she has to be hot initially, I think how hot she could be would be off the charts.
My second choice and she hasn't been mentioned for awhile, but it would Julia Stiles.
Although, very unlikely for selection, I feel like she could portray it. I don't want to hear arguments about how she doesn't look the part. Give her some blue eye contacts and put her in the suit. Let's be completely honest here, how many people are going flip tits if she doesn't look like Selina Kyle? In my opinion, Christian Bale doesn't look like Batman. So on principal, just let my argument fly. Now - I don't think she could necessarily carry the role to greatness if the role was big. I feel like if it was supporting then she'd rock it. The girl can act, the Bourne Trilogy proved that for me. And in one of her first movies 'Save the Last Dance' it proves she has the body and the dedication to own her character. I feel like if she was put into the role of Catwoman like Scarlet Jo. was put into the role of Black Widow - as in, not that much screen time, supported the movie and had fun, amazing scenes - then she would do just fine and would probably be a pleasant surprise.
I don't want to go into complete detail with the others I had in mind for this role. But I'll list them. Three other girls who I think could do this justice would be Emily Blunt, Blake Lively (had she not been committed to Green Lantern.), and Zooey DesChanel (Her eyes just look like Cat-eyes to me. I'm sold.) Now I hope that you guys enjoyed this and I hope that I perhaps opened up a new perspective to the role. Let me know what you think, all I ask for is to please be subtle.
If anyone wants to know who I think should/could portray other Batman Villians such as Riddler, Penguin, Black Mask - I'd be glad to give my opinion. Just let me know.
