Marvel Studios Gameplan?

Marvel Studios Gameplan?

While reading through posts on the IMDB page for 2012's "The Avengers", I stumbled across this little piece of information from a person, "Karter", claiming to work for Marvel Studios. While some of this seems quite promising and would certainly be quite exciting, some is rather off putting to me: mostly, this "Ant Man" short. Take this with a grain of salt though, as it does come from IMDB. Enjoy!

The following was posted on "The Avengers" Forum on IMDB 2 days ago (Saturday, July 30, 2012):

Hey guys. My name is "Karter", and I've been working in Marvel Studios for 2 years now with Creative Pre-Production and Concept Art.

Anyways, the higher-up's sent out a pretty exciting Memo this morning regarding the next few years of production at the studio, as they are incredibly happy with the performance of Captain America on the domestic front. This is supposed to be strictly confidential but as a fellow fan who is proud of my work on "The Avengers", I just can't hold this information back.

The BIG news is that characters such as Dr. Strange, The Punisher and Luke Cage will have big screen introduction in pre-film short films ranging from 10-15 minutes in length. These films will put the character's in the established universe and help transition them into further films.

These will be formally announced at the upcoming Disney convention.

Anyways, the Memo outlined a production schedule as follows:

For RELEASE in 2013 -
IRON MAN 3 - DIR. SHANE BLACK - SECOND QUARTER 2013
ANT MAN (SHORT FILM) - DIR. EDGAR WRIGHT - SECOND QUARTER 2013

THOR 2 - DIR. NEIL MARSHALL (LATE STAGE NEGOTIATIONS) - FOURTH QUARTER 2013
DR. STRANGE (SHORT FILM) - DIR. DAVID SLADE (NEGOTIATIONS) - FOURTH QUARTER 2013

For RELEASE in 2014 -
THE INCREDIBLE HULK RETURNS - DIR. LOUIS LETERRIER - SECOND QUARTER 2014
LUKE CAGE + IRON FIST (SHORT FILM) - DIR. JAMES GUNN (NEGOTIATIONS) - SECOND QUARTER 2014

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. - DIR. DOUG LIMAN (EARLY NEGOTIATIONS) - THIRD QUARTER 2014
BLACK PANTHER - DIR. ANTOINE FUQUA (EARLY NEGOTIATION) - THIRD QUARTER 2014

For RELEASE in 2015 -
THE PUNISHER - DIR. PADDY CONSIDINE (NEGOTIATIONS) - FIRST QUARTER 2015
SENTRY (SHORT FILM) - DIR. T.B.A. - FIRST QUARTER 2015

CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 - DIR. JOE JOHNSTON (NEGOTIATIONS) - THIRD QUARTER 2015
WASP (SHORT FILM) - DIR. DUNCAN JONES (EARLY NEGOTIATION) - THIRD QUARTER 2015

For RELEASE in 2016 -

BLADE: THE DAYWALKER - DIR. T.B.A. - SECOND QUARTER 2016

Doctor Strange needs more than a short film as well.

Anything coming from IMDB is unreliable.
Theyre the same ones that officially confirmed Jensen Ackles to be Captain America in the First Avenger. So, im not buying this

bull. Why would Louis Leterrier be confirmed for the sequel of a movie they casted a new actor for? Plus they're trying to go in a different direction for Hulk so that sounds like BS to me.

In anycase, I hope this is true, but I doubt it.

Why would Edgar Wright spend so much time and 3 screenplays just to direct a 15-minute short?

If this is real, then I would literally cry, otherwise, IMDb cannot be relied on all the time

An "Ant Man" short would completely annoy the heck out of me since I think he deserves way more than that (he needs to be in the Avengers darnit!)

Although it made me giddy and exceptionally jizzy to see 'The Incredible Hulk Returns' I can't believe that Sentry would be that high up the pecking order. I also can't see them leaving Cap and The Avengers follow ups that long either.

An exciting read but I'll wait for the proof in the pudding...

I could have almost gone along with it until I saw THIS:

"For RELEASE in 2015 -
THE PUNISHER - DIR. PADDY CONSIDINE (NEGOTIATIONS)"

Great actor who dished the dirt on Punisher: Warzone. Why the hell would he want to direct it? In fact what else has he even directed?

I believe it said something about David Slade being in negotiations for the Dr. Strange short. Correct me if I am wrong, but how can that be if hes currently got his hands full with the Daredevil reboot? And speaking of, where is the Daredevil reboot on this memo? Or anything Marvel is producing with Fox? I know theres gonna be another X-Men and (God-willing) a Deadpool movie. So why arent they on here if this really is the official gameplan?

I agree with just about everyone here when I say... BULLSH!T!

Why are you guys fussing about your favorite heroes having short films one of the reasons they're doing this is so that they can make them into films after the short films so that they can introduce them into the mainstream audience
