I was reading
The Slavers, wondering why this version of Frank Castle hasn't made it to the big screen. Well, now that the Punisher is back under Marvel Studios' roof, I'm hoping a true representation of the character will eventually see the light of day. Not directly under the Marvel banner, though.
I could see Marvel/Disney creating a new, separate film division for
Max Comics. Hey, Disney once owned
Miramax Films, (
Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill).
This would give Marvel a means to release R-rated films for "Adults Only" titles that could include
Ghost Rider,
Daredevil, Blade and, of course,
The Punisher. Marvel could produce these with modest budgets instead of spending $100M to $200M on them. And they'd be able to satisfy the audiences who aren't fans of the family friendly films the studio has built its empire on.
I cut this trailer together with that in mind. I felt, even though it was rated R,
The Punisher with Thomas Jane came across like a TV movie.
War Zone was just too cartoony for my tastes. In my opinion a
Punisher Max movie needs to be gritty and unforgiving.
I don't think they'd bring Jane back for a reboot, dispite his work in the
Dirty Laundry short. So I'd suggest, rather than an established star, cast an up and comer. Someone in his late 30s. Someone who could pull off Frank before and after losing his family.
Anyways, here's my trailer for a Marvel Max released Punisher film.
Contains strong language and violence.
Let me know what you think. Also, what would you say to Marvel/Disney starting a
Max Comics film divison
dedicated to R-rated, "Mature Audiences Only" content? Sound off below...and thanks for watching.
