Hello, all! This is my fan cast for my dream Daredevil film! Now that the rights have reverted back to Marvel, I think we'll finally get the DD movie we deserve!
So, without further ado, here it goes:
Why: Why? Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is Martin Scorsese! No one knows crime and New York like Scorsese. His films,
Taxi Driver,
Cape Fear, and even the most recent film,
The Departed, have the essential tone for a Daredevil movie. I think he would be able to effectively give us a phenomenal DD movie, one that correctly reflects the Frank Miller-era.
Why: I've seen him quite a few times in other fan casts for the Man Without Fear, and I do think he's perfect for the role. In films such as
Drive, Half Nelson, and the upcoming
Only God Forgives, shows the kind of range this guy has. I think he would be perfect for both Matt Murdock and Daredevil.
Why: This one might seem like a little bit of a stretch, but I really like Josh Peck. From his role in the television show
Drake and Josh, to the recent
Red Dawn remake, he has really impressed me. I know he's lost a little bit of weight so he doesn't look exactly like Foggy Nelson, but he has the comedic timing and whole-heartiness that Foggy needs.
Why: Howell has appeared in numerous films, including the original
Red Dawn, Hidalgo, and most recently
The Amazing Spider-Man. I think Howell can play the hard-as-nails journalist trying to take down the criminal empire in New York City.
Why: I first saw Margolis in the show
Breaking Bad where he had virtually no speaking lines. However, on further research I realized he has been in
Requiem for a Dream, Gone Baby Gone, and the original
Daredevil. However, it was a minor part of Fallon, so I don't think it would be too big of a problem.
Why: I love Katee Sackhoff. I just absolutely adore her, since her first appearance in
24, and then I saw her in
Battlestar Galactica. I think she would have the perfect balance of innocence and feisty that would work well with Karen Page. Also, since Marvel has the rights back to Daredevil, I think we could finally see a
Born Again film, and I think her take on Karen Page in this would be very interesting.
Why: While only being on a few small-time films, like
Attitude, Lowndes has also had a role in
90210 and
Greek. I think she is a talented actress with a lot of potential, if given the right script and direction. I think for the initial film, Elektra will be vaguely mentioned as a student Stick has working for him, and in the second film, she'll be introduced.
Why: Ray Liotta is a powerhouse of an actor, and I think reuniting him with Scorsese would be crazy good! He has also been in
Field of Dreams, Wild Hogs (won't hold that against him) and the recent
Killing Them Softly. I think, even though it is a minor part, Liotta would completely capture the roughness of Jack Murdock's boxing and the tenderness of Jack Murdock as a father.
Why: Going off of the
Born Again story line, which I think would be a perfect direction to go, Emma Thompson would be a perfect mother to Matt Murdock. Thompson has been in
Harry Potter, I Am Legend, and
Men In Black 3. I think she would play a great mom and a great nun.
And every great hero needs a great line-up of villains.
Why: I think if they can make Tom Cruise into a fat guy with prosthetics and CGI, they can add some muscle to Josh Brolin. In this day and age, the idea that whoever portrays Wilson Fisk
must be a large person already seems ridiculous. Technology has been advanced in film making to the point where as long as we have a solid actor, it shouldn't be a problem.
And Josh Brolin is that solid actor.
Having appeared in
No Country for Old Men, W., and
Milk, Brolin has proved what a fantastic actor he truly is. In the role of Wilson Fisk, for the first film, I would want to see him rise to power. Make it about the journey of Kingpin as much as it is Murdock's journey. Brolin would be scary good as the Kingpin of Crime.
Why: He first came to my attention as wild and reckless Ziggy in
The Wire. I thought he was phenomenal in that show and loved him in his appearances on
Burn Notice. I think he would completely encompass the character of Bullseye and take his insanity and cruelness to a new level.
Why: Keira Knightley is a terrific actress, and I think this would be a role very different from her usual stuff. Her role in
Domino has come close, but to play three different characters in one shot would be an amazing feat, and I think Knightley is the one to pull it off.
Why: Life on Mars is how I first saw him, but I found out how great of an actor he was on
The Sopranos. I think for the first two films, Killgrave would just be a right-hand man to Fisk, and only dress in purple clothes. By the end of the series, a full-out war will be waged in Hell's Kitchen between Killgrave's army and Fisk's, and Daredevil will be caught in the middle of it.
Why: David Morrissey is a scary good in
The Walking Dead and I think if he were to let go of his control for The Owl it would be a great performance. I'm also sick of the usual Timothy Spall and Paul Giamatti casting, so I went a different route - and one that would be more effective.
Why: Like I said before, I hope Marvel goes the route of
Born Again and this would be a great side villain to add. Kevin Durand has been in
Robin Hood and
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and I think he would be great as the dark side of the super soldier formula. It would also be a great way to introduce Captain America into the film series as a cameo, firmly placing it in the MCU.
Well, there ya have it! I hope you enjoyed my fan cast and leave your comments down below!
