I mean, it's pretty simple. An actor in their 20s is more likely to be skilled than a teenaged actor.

The paramount reason why is labor laws. Actual kids/minors have legal restrictions to the number of hours they can work.

The reasons are pretty clear cut.

1. They can cast more bankable actors
2. They can cast actors with more reliable resumes.
3. Any actor under 18 can only act for specific hours, considerably less than an adult.
