Okay I've done quite a few pitches and this is one I have confidence in as Spider-Man has such a strong fan base and with five movies (not counting the old school ones) we seem to have seen the same thing over and over so with this I'm hopfully giving a fresh take on the wall crawler.
This would be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and so there will be a S.H.E.I.L.D prescence and you could even throw in a Stark/Avengers tower cameo, but I think this would be a new take for Marvel Studios and something we would welcome.
Title - The Spectacular Spider-Man
I'm choosing this as a title because A. The Amazing Spider-Man has already been taken, B. Its a homage to the animated show which in my mind was brilliant and C. It takes it back to the comics from atime that Spider-Man really was a rulling character.
Cast-
Peter Parker / Spider-Man - Jack O'Connell
Okay I know recently there was an article and O'Connell was cast as an example but I've liked him for quite a long time, he owned the role of Cook in the British show Skins and has a line of other amazing preformances under his ever growing belt.
O'Connell has that look about him, not only could he pass as a character younger than himself (he's 24) he can really act on the emotion of rage but I think he could easily pull of Spidey's wit and humor, plus its a bonus that he has the slim but muscular body type which is what we would want for Spidey.
Aunt May - Sally Field
In my mind one of the strongest points of The Amazing Spider-Man series was Field's preformance as Aunt May, she gives the role a sense of youth that the Ultimate comics version of the character had and its a version I prefer to the original 616 version.
While others may say it isn't right casting her again I think Field deserves a chance to play the character in a well liked Spider-Man movie.
Mary Jane Watson - Jane Levy
Okay she looks like a slightly younger Emma Stone but this girl has a hot level of her own she's definetly the girl next door type and that red hair helped my decision but it was her role in the Evil Dead remake that made me think of her as this is a girl that needs saved.
I liked her in Suburgatory and the Mary Jane I have in mind for this would fit that young woman/girl next door look that Levy gave off in that show.
Norman Osbourne - Sean Bean
I've been a fan of Bean for a long time and I don't have a certain past role of his in mind to use as reference but examples for instance Beans portrayal of Boromir in LOTR Fellowship of the Ring shows him pull of the strong and brave but desperate man where as his role as Alec Trevelyan in GoldenEye show him play the man we think is a good guy but really he's the villain something I'd want for my Norman Osbourne.
Bean would easily pull of the business man/Evil crazy man role and I think he'd give a preformance that would have people naming him one of the MCU's top villains.
Harry Osbourne - Dave Franco
I've chose Dave Franco due to his performance in 21 Jump Street, a popular wealthy kid with a bad side, I'd use Franco's cockyness and cool guy vibe to make the emotions of Harry's role effective.
Although his older brother played Harry in the Rami movies I think Dave would own this role in this movie as I have a very clear plan as to which direction the character would go.
Otto Octavius - Gerard Butler
Not everyone's choice huh? again looking to the Ultimate comics version of the character Doc Ock wasn't a little fat guy in fact he was first portrayed as a tall muscular man, which makes him more of a threat really as he doesn't have to rely on the mechanical arms but he can actually use his fists to fight too.
Butler I believe would be really intimidating as Doc Ock, his size along with the mechanical tentacle arms would be more than a match for O'Connell's Spider-Man, the only worry I'd have is Butler carrying of the role of a smart Doctor/Scientist.
Kraven The Hunter - Timothy Olyphant
The Movie 'A Perfect Getaway' made me think of Olyphant for the Kraven role, in that movie he shows the instinct of a soldier but when he's running through a forrest knife in hand to me that screams hunter.
He's played bad guys before and has shown that he can give creepy expressions I think with an accent, a few scars, facial hair and a well designed costume he would be really good in the role of Kraven
Wilson Fisk / The Kingpin - Vincent D'Onofrio
He's been cast as The Kingpin in the Netflix Daredevil series which will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so it'll be cool for him to be a connecting character and a nod to the possibility of Daredevil appearing at some point.
Plot-
The movie starts with a towering New York city skyscraper once at the top we see the logo 'OSCORP' then the camera zooms in on the window panelled wall of Norman Osbourne's large office, Norman stands behind his desk and looks out at the city and we can see he isn't happy, somebody enters the room and walks towards his desk as he comes out of the shadow from the entrance we see it is Dr.Otto Octavius wearing a long white lab coat.
Norman's eye flick to the corner of their socket as if looking at Otto without turning his head, motionless Norman asks if there is any back up files but Otto replies with a simple no and then goes on to say that the subject is lost and their only solution is to tell S.H.E.I.L.D that their progress failed rapidly, Otto takes a piece of paper from his pocket and says that its a S.H.E.I.L.D declaration declaring that they have full right to take over the Oscorp offices and Norman has a week to to hand the rights of ownership to S.H.E.I.L.D.
Otto then tells Norman than their best choice is to get rid of all their other projects as they still have the secret projects hidden away S.H.E.I.L.D can come in and he and Norman will go underground and continue their work. Norman turns to Otto and smiles before declaring that S.H.E.I.L.D can try to take over but the Oz.01 programme is finished their next goal is Oz.02, Otto replies that the vigilante obviously has something to do with the missing Oz.01 programme but Norman turns back to look at the city and mutters "Oh we will deal with the Spider".
The opening credits show flash backs of Oscorps Oz.01 programme being a spider that is tested and injected with something labeled Oz.01 we then get introuduced to Peter Parker, the Mid Town Highschool fueld trip to Oscorp where the spider escapes its testing lab and makes it way to Peter, the bite that gives Peter is abilites and the spider falling dead into his pocket.
We then see the origin of Spider-Man as Peter learns of his abilites, the death of Uncle Ben and Peter first wearing his costume as the opening credits come to a close a red spider crawls across the black screen and webs the title.
'The Spectacular Spider-Man'
As the camera pans across a busy street of New York a voice over from Peter states -
"With great power comes great responsibility"
A car speeds through the street chased by police cars, two men from the back seats hang out the windows shooting at the police.
"Welcome to New York City the big apple and home to...."
We see one of the men shooting get webbed around his hand he stops shooting and looks up, a fully costumed Spider-Man drops down kicking him and knocking him out, the other shooter turns and shoots at Spider-Man as he stands on the roof of the car.
"Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man"
He webs the second shooter in the face and kicks him knocking him out aswell, the police radio through that Spider-Man is there and they are told to take him in aswell so they continue to chase, the driver of the shooters car calls to the two shooters and looks back to see them hanging from the windows unconsious.
He turns back to the windscreen and Spider-Man is laid on the roof of the car looking down at him and says Hey, this causes the driver to freak out and surve the car and just about to hit presestrians on the sidewalk but Spider-Man smashes through the windscreen and grabs the steering wheel making the car spin back to the road, the driver reaches for a gun but Spider-Man punches him and grabs him as he jumps up and webs the driver to a sign, the police swarm out of their cars and aim at Spider-Man telling him to drop to the ground and put his hands behind his head but Spider-Man quickly webs all the police's guns and swings away.
As we watch him web swing through the city Peter's voice over continues,
"If I told you I was a normal guy, you'd probably not believe me but trust me like four weeks ago I was just neardy Peter Parker then one spider love bite and I'm the Spectacular Spider-Man fighting crime but still making and A grade average....... Unless I don't make it back to class before lunch finishes"
The scene cuts to Mid Town High in Queens, Peter runs across the roof of the school undressing and then pulling his backpack up from an airvent duct taking out his clothes and putting them on then quietly wall crawling down the wall and running into the school building.
running through the corridors he reaches his class and explains he was locked in the bathroom which causes the class to laugh at him while Flash Thompson a jock mocks him, the teacher shakes his head and tells Peter to go to his desk commenting on how his prize student can't even turn up on time, we see that Peter is a good student and smarter than his classmates but we also see that he is bullied by Flash and his friends.
Harry Osbourne enters the class and before he can explain why he's late the teacher tells him to just go to his desk and try to catch up, Harry sits behind Peter and asks if he missed anything good but Peter is interupted by Flash who asks if Harry is coming to a party tonight, later in the corridor as school ends Harry catches up to Peter asking him why he lets Flash treat him the way he does, Peter gives a look as if to say "You have no idea what I could do to Flash" but just comments on it being the way it always has been since Pre-School, Harry asks if Peter is coming to the party with him tonight but Peter replys he's not wanted there then Harry explains that if Peter hangs out with him more he'll get more friends and he'll be able to start sticking up for himself more, leading to Peter giving Harry the same look as before.
Peter gets home and Aunt May comes through from the kitchen telling him that her friend Anna has her niece Mary Jane staying with her and that it would be nice for her and Peter to meet for the sake of Peter getting out and socializing but Peter says no and walks up stairs, May looks up as he goes to his room and sadly says to her self that it'll take time but Peter will get over Gwen. In his room Peter looks through a text book with the name 'Gwen Stacey' written on it, there are pictures of Peter and Gwen together and notes to Peter showing that they were together but soemthing has happened to her and Peter is still really hurt by it.
That night Peter is called by Harry who asks him to come to the party but when he refuses Harry tells him he's outside waiting leading to Peter deciding to go with him, the party is at a big house of a wealthy mid town student Peter and Harry walk through the crowds of students and get a drink, Harry tells Peter how things at home are tough since his dad's company has gone down hill, Peter asks why but Harry says he doesn't ask since all his mother does is cry and his father always seems pissed off.
During the Party Peter thinks he see's Gwen he calls her name and runs through the crowd but its not her he goes outside to the garden and sits by the pool and we see a quick flashback of Peter as Spider-Man webbing down a bridge where the dead body of Gwen lies, he holds her and screams out, as he sits by the pool he wipes tears from his eyes and Flash comes out from the dark and without making eye contact Flash tells Peter he misses her too but before Peter can reply Flash walks back into the house and to the party.
In the city there is a party being held in a massive penthouse, a suited man stands up to raise a cheers to their host Wilson Fisk, everyone stands and claps as the large man stands and smiles, a small man walks over to him and tells him of someone waiting for him in his office.
In Fisk's office Norman Osbourne stands and walks over to shake Fisk's hand but Fisk walks past him and sits in his chair at his desk then asks why Norman is here, Norman tells Fisk about how Oscorp is being taken over by S.H.E.I.L.D due to programme leaks but Fisk doesn't believe him and asks why S.H.E.I.L.D are really taking over to which Norman goes quiet then replies its because S.H.E.I.L.D undercover agents found illegal traces in Oscorp and found that their projects were dangerous and after the Oz.01 programme went missing they declared Oscorp a danger to humanity.
Fisk asks why Norman has came to him and Norman replies that he believes Spider-Man is a theif that stole the Oz.01 but wont tell Fisk what Oz.01 is, Fisk stands up and smiles stating now he knows why Norman came to him and he buzzes for his assistant, Fisks assistant enters the room and hands Fisk a big file, Fisk reads out a list of crimes that Spider-Man has stopped then explains to Norman that these crimes were business and that he has already found a way to deal with Spider-Man, introducing Kraven the Hunter who has been stood in the shadows the whole time.
Norman asks who Kraven is and Kraven explains while playing witha large knife that he is a great game hunter and that he is here in New York to hunt the great game that is the Spider-Man, Norman turns to Fisk and tells him that he knows all about Fisks 'The Kingpin' status and that is Kraven fails he will end Spider-Man himself, but before he leaves he states that Fisk holds shares in Oscorp and that is S.H.E.I.L.D are taking voer then he should expect an investigation.
Spider-Man is web slinging through the city the next day when he stops and looks over at the Triskelion H.Q and wonders whether he should go to them about getting tested since he has worries about his health with these abilites he now has.
But then he hears police sirrens and webs off to find out whats going on, as he web slings through the city he sees police cars rushing in one direction and so he follows the cars leading to a burning apartment building, he slings himself through a window and into the apartment but can't see anything due to thick smoke as he searches for people he kicks the aprtment door open and into the stair well where he sees a poster on the wall stating:
"APARTMENT BOCK DUE FOR DEMOLITION"
Outside the police meet the firefighters on the scene and discuss how it must be a random fire started either by squatters or kids as the building has been empty for the last two weeks, back inside Spider-Man looks around but has a thick rope net thrown onto him, he manages to rip through it and recieves punches to the face where he collapses, he looks up to see Kraven the Hunter standing above him who mocks him for not being the hunt Kraven had expected, Spider-Man manages to swing his leg and throw Kraven to the ground where he webs him in the face blinding him for a minute Spider-Man jumps up onto the wall and comments how he didn't know squatters wore leather and animal furr but Kraven pounces up and swings a large knife at Spider-Man slashing his chest and sending him to the ground, Kraven delivers a harsh beating to Spider-Man.
The building starts to collapse due to the fire, as he is kicked around by Kraven, Spider-Man reaches out and shoots a line of webbing to a wall using his last breath of energy he pulls himself through the wall and away from Kraven but this pulls the wall down and the upper floors come down too.
Peter finds himself in a small room of an apartment with a small window being the only means of escape he jumps out and webs away, in such a weak state he crashes into a rooftop and nearly falls off but luckily finds the strength to pull himself up.
At the Osbourne city home Harry walks into the living room and finds Norman sitting down looking over files, he goes to turn away but Norman calls him back and asks what he remembers of the day his class visited Oscorp, Harry tells him he remembers all the panic from the research lab being evacuated and Peter collapsing, Norman interupts and asks about Peter.
Later at Oscorp Norman stands in his office looking out at the city at night when Otto walks in behind him, Otto tells Norman that he hs been offered work in Italy but will stay for as long as Norman needs him, Norman doesn't seem to hear him and he begins to talk telling Otto his plan to take their next project on themselves using Norman as the test subject, Otto mutters "Of course if Spider-Man did take the Oz.01 then....." he smiles as Norman finishes his sentence "Oz.02 would give stronger results" Otto then questions if they should find Spider-Man and test him incase of any negative results but Norman says no they should focus on getting their grip back on Oscorp before S.H.E.I.L.D have it.
Peter makes his way home to find Aunt May and her friend Anna in the kitchen they tell Peter that they have someone for him to meet but in agony Peter makes his way to his room, Aunt May turns to the living room and apologizes to Mary Jane Watson who is sat in there, in his room Peter tries to tend to his wounds.
The next day at Fisk Tower, The Kingpin tells Kraven that he failed and that his services are no longer required and that he'll find someone else to track Spider-Man but Kraven angry tells Kingpin to give him a day and he'll find him.
At school Peter sits in class waiting for the other students and the teacher to arrive, suddenly Flash and his group of pals come in and begin to taunt Peter who tries to ignore them but when Flash gets in his face Peter becomes angry flipping his desk and throwing Flash to the wall, Flash and his pals shocked allow Peter to leave the class where he goes and trashes a bathroom before leaving school.
Taking to webslinging Peter feels his spider sense go off and he dodges a bullet shot from Kraven who is stood in Central Park, the shot sends predestrians running away and Spider-Man swings in to confront Kraven who tells Spider-Man that he was dissgraced his reputation and a fight begins.
The fight takes to Spider-Man leaping to trees to dodge attacks that Kraven throws using guns and knifes, as police surround the park Spider-Man has to throw Kraven into the city using webs, as the fight continues on the streets of New York Kraven shows himself to become beast like with his rage explaining that he became a legendary hunter through use of mystic voodoo arts that have given him beast like strength and abillites.
This leads Spider-Man to start having to take the fight up a skyscraper to get away from Kravens attacks but this is all Kravens plan as he had used his hunters survival techniques to make Spider-Man crawl up this certain building where he has set up a collection of traps, one of these traps tackles itself around Spider-Man's ankle taking him up in the air and hanging him upside down over the building, Kraven laughs as he aims a spear at Spider-Man and claims his victory but as he throws the spear Spider-Man spins himself breaking the trap and grabbing the spear before shooting a line of web onto the building and swinging himself back up to punch Kraven knocking him off the building.
Seeing Kraven fall gives Spidey a flash back of Gwen falling off a bridge and he leaps to catch him, once caught Kraven fully beasts out and goes to deliver another attack on Spider-Man feeling more shamed due to his prey saving him but Spider-Man punches him first knocking him out.
As the police surround Spider-Man he drops to his knees but as the police close in on him S.H.E.I.L.D agent drop down and surround the area, Maria Hill walks onto the scene and tells the police that Spider-Man is officially S.H.E.I.L.D property.
Peter gets up on his feet and thanks Hill but she tells him to thank Nick Fury and tells him to leave, as Peter web slings away The Kingpin who has watched the whole thing from his office window and tells his assistant to forget the Spider-Man for now thy have more pressing matters in Hells Kitchen.
Once home Peter sneaks into the house and removes his Spider-Man costume but when going down stairs Aunt May suprises him saying Mary Jane is there in the living room waiting for him, as he reluctantly walks into the room he's shocked to see how beautiful she is as she says
"Face it Tiger you just hit the Jackpot"
Meanwhile In an unknown location Norman sist in a machine as Otto stands at a control panel wearing four octopus like mechanical arms, two to work panels further away while the other two arms get the machine Norman is sat in ready.
Norman tells Otto to place the Oz.02 into the vessel and as he does he triggers the machine to power up, we then see the green Oz.02 serum gussle away into five tubes that then connects to rubber piping witch are placed into Norman's veins as the Oz serum goes into Norman he begisn to scream and warning alarms go off on the conrol panel, Norman scream to Otto not to stop and Otto steps back in shock as the machine starts to glow and then explodes throwing Otto across the room.
We are then left to Peter pulling on his mask and jumping off a rooftop and slinging away as he gives us another voice over:
"As I said if I told you I was normal you probably wouldn't believe me, but behind this mask behind fighting crime I'm just a normal guy trying to get through high school..... Maybe things will lighten up or maybe.... just maybe they'll become even more spectacular"
With that we get our final shot of Spidey slinging through the city.
End credits scene -
In the room Norman and Otto were we see one of Otto's mechanical arms lying motionless on the floor, part of the room is on fire yet still shrouded in darkness and spark spit out from the wrecked machine Norman was in.
As a dark figure walks past the unconsious Otto smoke steams off from its body and it begins to laugh, once gone Otto's mechanical arm slowly moves up coming to life.
