My Overall Take:
I don't want to see a full on rehash of Spider-Man's origins but I'd prefer for it to be tied up via flashbacks, or a pre-opening credit scene. Anyways, storywise I imagine Peter Parker to be in his final year of high school and to have been operating as Spider-Man for a few months now; and he's finally managed to make his iconic Spidey suit, so has become more public with his super-heroics, essentially getting more attention from the public and this leads to him getting a job at the Bugle, etc. As with many of my fancasts I imagine this to basically be Spider-Man Year One, tone-wise I imagine the film to take a cue from Iron Man; it should basically have a good balance of humour/action with healthy little slices of drama along the way. Anyways, enough with the talk, heres my casting choices
Cast:
Peter Parker aka Spider-Man - Shia LaBouf
A lot of you maybe thinkin HELL NOO right about now, and yes I have admitedly used him as Ice Man in my X-Men reboot fancast as well, nonetheless I think Shia is perfect for the role. Just watch Even Stevens; he perfectly plays an immature smart ass in that, and seeing as how the previous Spider-Mans lacked any witty banter I feel he is the perfect guy for the role. Also in regards to Spidey's webs, I personally am a fan of the organic web, primarily as it seems a lot less complicated than the webshooters... Anyways, as for the costume, I imagine it to be a cross between the House of M Spider-Man suit and the regular Marvel suit
Unlce Ben - Keith Carradine
Carradine was one of my favorite characters in Dexter, so I admitedly choose him from that... Anyways, I imagine this role to be a flashback or something among the lines of that. Anyways, I'd prefer for Ben's backstory to be a bit more fleshed out than done in Raimi's series; in my take he used to be cop who was partnered with George Stacy, but retired after taking a bullet when he was young for Stacy, and this civic duty of his stuck with him till his death, essentially leading to the great power/responsibilty speach
Aunt May - Sharon Gless
With the lady who played the last Aunt May... she got real annoying real fast... With Glass she definetly has the attributes necessary for Ultimate Aunt May, just watch Burn Notice. Anyways, I feel she can bring her 'Michael's mum' quality to this role aswell, and I feel this will be very rewarding for the audience, presenting a lot of oppurtunities for subtle humour to break any tension
Harry Osborn - Tom Felton
Again some of you may disagree with this choice, but in the Harry Potter series he basically plays a arrogant prick who is forced by his father into a life he didn't want; very similar to Harry. I feel overall he can play a more disturbed version of Harry; a bit emotionally damaged due to Norman's neglectful parenting style, etc. Anyways, storywise, he and Pete used to be buddies when they were kids, only for Norman to make it big and this led to Harry moving away from Queens, only for Peter and Harry to reunite in high school and to be friends from that point on... some of you may think this little backstory is pointless, but I feel it would help cement thier friendship making them appear more like brothers
Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin (well not yet anyways) - Jason Isaacs
Yes, I did choose him as my Zod in my Superman fancast, so yes I admitedly do recycle certain choices of mine. Anyways, hes worked well with Felton before and was perfect as the neglectful father, so storywise I dont expect norman to Goblin-out just yet, but I'd like to imagine him developing a stronger version of the Oz syrum, as after spying on Peter and witnessing what happens, he gets greedy and tries to walk before he can crawl essentially; something for a potential sequel
Gwen Stacy - Hayden Panitere
She has that very sweet and cute look to her and I feel she could do the role justice. Storywise, she and Peter aren't really an item, rather I imagine there to be a lot of flirtation between the two; leading to them dating/or expressing thier feelings for one another or something... around the mid-point of the film. Also, I prefer the regular Marvel version of Gwen Stacy, so I'd prefer that to be the version conveyed
Captain George Stacy - Geoff Pierson
Yes, another actor from Dexter... but whatever, I feel he has the right authoritative look to him. Storywise this role should be brief, and at this point in the film he's just been promoted to Captain, wheres before Pete got his powers and everything he used to be Ben's partner. Anyways, some of you maybe critical of me changing these character's histories, but I feel it will tie up the Stacy's and Parker's friendship and be a convieniet starting point for the average movie goer
Lizz Allen - Dianna Agron
This is another role that should be fairly brief. I imagine her to be a possible romantic interest for Pete, but something that doesn't go anywhere, leading to them being just friends, also I'd ideally like to see the Ultimate incarnation of Lizz (personality-wise not the powers), so yeah she should be stuck up and slutty... lol...
Freddy 'Flash' Thompson - Kellan Lutz
The guy personifies the arrogant jock figure, and I feel he would be a good supporting character. Storywise, Flash starts of as a giant douche, but soon becomes a close friend of Peter's
Mary Jane Watson - Lyndsy Fonseca
This role is also something that should be brief; I'm imaginging something like a cameo before the end credits role, where she just moves in next door to the Parker's and greats them or something whilst Pete looks in awe. Anyways, I feel after her roles in shows such as Nikita and Desperate Housewives (yes I watch it, but Eva Longoria Parker is good benefit from the piece of shit) I feel she can bring more depth than Dunst, plus she's hot and doesn't look like a swollen toe, so maybe finally we'll get a hot looking MJ
J Jonah Jameson - Hugh Laurie
He was supposed to be Perry White in Superman Returns, but I from his body shape and overall appereance, he is definetly better suited for Jonah, and could probably top J K Simmons version of the character
Robbie Robertson - Ernie Hudson
I think he's spot on for the role aswell, and storywise I feel he should act as Jameson's 'conscience' in the film
Ben Urich - William Fitchner
Like Jameson and Robertson, my take on Urich is that he is a seasoned reporter who has been with the Bugle from the start, essentially a veteran who was old friends with Jameson and Robertson
Betty Brant - Katie Cassidy
Another brief role, much like the last Betty Brant she should act as eye candy that Peter wants but cant get. Also, I imagine her to be Eddie Brock's girlfriend, so Pete's oggling of her is something of a starting point that creates tension between the two
Eddie Brock - Cam Gigandet
With this version of Brock I imagine him to be a combination of regular and Ultimate Marvel. Rather than being an old family friend, hes a douch who used to bully Parker, and is having trouble taking pics of Spider-Man leading to him facing competion from Pete, who essentially ends up swooping his job from under him. With Gigandet he is a fan favorite and is less scrawny than Grace so much like with Norman Osborn I expect him to be a villain for later sequels
Dr Curt Conners aka the Lizard - James Remar
Yes, once again another Dexter actor lol... With Remar I feel he is the right age to maybe play a Gulf war veteran Conners or something, and due to his experience in playing flawed father figures, I feel he can help act as both a psycologically challenging and physically challenging opponent as Peter's first super villain, also after he ends up eating his own kid, I want him to take his own life after he reverts to his human form; frankly I feel he is the only Spider-Man villain that really should die
Anyways folks, thats my take on the series, sound of below!
