The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Rise of Electro?) Poster Observation & Wish List

Hit the jump to read a few incoherent thoughts on the new poster and some of the things I am looking forward to seeing the most in the highly anticipated sequel.

Greetings, mortals. This will be my first editorial so be gentle. As I'm sure we all know The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is due out in cinemas on May 2, 2014 and we are expecting it's first trailer in 6 days. To build up anticipation a poster has been leaked this week showcasing the titular character and some of the foes he will be make smart arsed remarks too. Now, to get down to business. There were a couple of things I picked up from this poster which I thought I'd share with you all. But first, the poster itself and some close ups supplied by DCMARVELFRESHMAN:

From this we can see that the Green Goblin will indeed make an appearance, Electro will rise (into the air) and that Paul Giamatti's Rhino will in fact be based on the Ultimate universe take in which Aleksei is in a piece of military armour.

Now, For some observations.

There has been a fair bit of speculation as to who the Green Goblin will be. Norman or Harry Osborn. But I think after seeing this, it has confirmed that we will be seeing Harry Osborn whip around on a glider, laughing manically with his winged monkeys. As you can see on the billboard behind Electro, there is a close up of "Gobbie", not to be confused with Gusto. I would be very surprised if it turned out to be Norman as that face has the same likeness as Dane DeHaan. Fanboys raging in 3,2,1...

Ok, as I said earlier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has gone to the Ultimate comics for inspiration for Rhino, or should I say R.H.I.N.O? And judging from this picture, I have absolutely no idea what I am looking at. I don't even know where the head is. Hopefully, it will look much better on screen.

Enough with the poster it didn't look to good anyway. On to the things I want to see in the sequel.

- More classic Spidey humour. TASM absolutely nailed Spider-Man's funny side with the most notable scene being with the Car Thief which you can see here.

- More Peter & Gwen. The chemistry between Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone is phenomenal. Probably because they're dating in real life but still, give credit where credit is due.

- To see that beautiful suit in all its glory. I want to see every...inch...

- Give Gwen a goodbye to remember. To this day, the death of Gwen Stacey has been one of, if not the, biggest things to happen to ol' webhead. The chemistry between the two is there, all that is needed is the scene to be well shot and the music to be tear evoking as it was when Captain Stacey died at the hands (claws?)of The Lizard. I can't imagine anyone complaining if were done the same way as the comic.

That's it from me, folks. Be sure to leave a comment with your observations and wish list and, if you liked it enough, a thumbs up! Cheers.

We heard complains that TASM trailers showed too much
The Amazing Spider-Man teaser - 2.30 min
The Amazing Spider-Man trailer 1 - 2.30 min
The Amazing Spider-Man trailer 2 - 3.45 min(extended 4 min)

People cried of bad music, now we have Zimmer
People cried of too much trailer, now we have short trailer
People cried of lack of action/bad action, now they hired transformers and star trek writers
People cried of lack of humor, now they have a lot of humor in TASM2
People cried of bad suit, now they have new spider-man suit
People cried because they dident see untold story, now they promest to show untold story in TASM2
People cried that it´s same story... now we have Harry as Goblin not Norman.

So, there you go.

So, MOVIE CAN´T FAIL

^you'd seen the original movies and seen the new trailer...you've seen 90% of the movie itself.

"Now we have short trailer." It's a 2 minute long teaser filled with Avenger's scape action scenes and plot details. Imagine how trailers 2 and 3 will be.
"People cried that it´s same story... now we have Harry as Goblin not Norman."

Wow, that's some logic you've got there. If they remade Batman Forever exactly the way it was and changed the Robin from Dick to Tim, would it be a different story? Plus, we don't know that yet. Norman still could be.

"MOVIE CAN"T FAIL"

Hmmm Why not? The Plots could get jumbled up like Spider man 3, the humor may get too overboard like Ironman 3, Peter may still be a selfish punk by the end of the movie. It may be good, but it CAN fail.

Great analysis, the movie looks better and better and if Webb can balance the plots...Could be the Dark Knight of Spidey flicks. This is coming from an avid Raimi fan.

If they kill Gwen Stacy off in this, it damn well better be Norman Osborn/Green Goblin and not Harry. If Harry's the one to do it, that'll be absolutely ridiculous and I would keep myself distanced from this "amazing" franchise until Marvel gets full rights back. Still, Dane looks so sinister in that billboard shot, I can't wait to see the trailer, and I can't wait to see what he and the real Green Goblin look like.

Stay puffed - cheers man!

Hotshot - agreed. Happy they're introducing villains we haven't seen yet. Fingers crossed for venom and carnage in future installments.

The jon 93rd - I dont think it'll be ridiculous. It could work nicely.

I love the suit the look of the suit in TASM 2. A big improvement on the suit in TASM. The only way people can properly judge that poster is when it's released in high quality which might come out after the trailer is released.

Not sure if Gwen will be killed off in this but if so then it'll be a huge shock. Marc Webb stated that Mary Jane will be introduced in TASM 3.
