THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3: My Story Pitch

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3: My Story Pitch

With The Amazing Spider-Man 2's mixed reactions despite being a financial success overall, though performing below expectations, we still have no confirmation on the status of the new film. In case the film ends up in Spider-Man 4 limbo, here's where I would go with the story for the third film.

I have the same feeling with this upcoming third film that I had with Spider-Man 4: that it may take so long to get right that the studio just gives up on it. Immediately after Spider-Man 3, I wrote treatments for Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6 in case they never got made (and they didn't) to give myself closure and in the case that this film winds up in film limbo like Spider-Man 4, I've decided to write my own fan treatment.

One thing I noticed about the last film is that while it left the franchise open for more villains, it technically closed up "the story" that the first film introduced. The parents' story was cleared up and the Peter and Gwen ark was mostly completed with Peter regaining his inner strength to become Spider-Man again and seemingly get over her death. The Sinister Six will get their own movie and I don't see it making a lot of sense to have the Sinister Six in their own film AND the third Spider-Man film (especially trying to balance six villains in the third film when the last was criticized for unsuccessfully balancing two and a half), so with this treatment, the Six will be referenced as having battled Spider-Man, and a few may show up to bridge scenes together or even pop up in the opening and/or ending, but they will not be the villains of the third film.

My ideas of the third film would be focused on Eddie Brock and Peter's parents and "The Suit" that they created together. The opening montage (in script-form below) will follow how Edward Brock Sr. and Richard Parker's suit, originally meant to cure Norman Osborn from Hodgkin's disease but in the process creating Osborn's goblin disease after his body went through separation anxiety from the symbiotic suit, plays into the opening of the first and second film with Oscorp going after Peter's parents (and as it is revealed, Eddie's).

Peter is still secretly grieving for Gwen, but has forced his sadness underneath a happy, cocky personality, masking his inner guilt. This new-found attitude gets him in trouble and his reputation as Spider-Man begins to slip in the face of his fellow New Yorkers. It isn't until Mary Jane Watson, also grieving the loss of her mom, as turned into a bit of a criminal, shoplifting and escaping cops on her motorcycle. Her father decides to send her to her Aunt Anna's where she meets Peter next door. She is a little rough around the edges for Peter until they meet at a middle ground, both at complicated stages in their lives (there will be a fun scene where Spidey stops Mary Jane from stealing jewelry).

It is revealed later that Osborn's death was faked, and Osborn, who instead slipped into a coma, is hidden away in secret by Oscorp, being kept alive underground by special Oscorp tech. He is monstrously hideous and when he awakens, he, now with the knowledge that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, wants Peter Parker to reconstruct Richard Parker's failed algorithm so that the black suit can be recreated for Osborn's use to cure him of his disease. He sends his son Harry to strap on the Goblin armor to hunt Peter down, this time without failure. Where is the suit?

Just as it is in the Ultimate comics, the suit was left behind to Eddie Brock Jr, who traumatized from the death of his parents, has turned into a hard-edged troublemaker. He and Peter reconnect throughout this situation. They form quite a bond until he finds out that his newly-ex-girlfriend Mary Jane, with whom he's trying to get back together with, is in love with Peter. So in the end, after discovering Peter's identity, Eddie will get his revenge on Peter by helping Norman Osborn obtain the symbiote and in the last moments of the film, will become Venom.

Oh, and yes, and Richard Parker is alive.

So that's my idea in a nutshell. Mixing the Ultimate ideas with my own original ideas (Mary Jane a young criminal, Norman Osborn as a Goblin/Venom hybrid).

INT. OSCORP- UNDERGROUND LAB- NIGHT- OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO
A young RICHARD PARKER hits record on a early 1990’s camcorder. He is intelligent, youthful, and almost identical
to his future son. Another young, blonde gentleman is heard cracking jokes nearby. They both stand near a steel,
bed-like lab chamber.

PARKER: This is Dr. Richard Parker here with fellow Dr. Edward Brock-

BROCK pokes his head toward the lens of the camera and waves.

BROCK : --Hello.

PARKER: -with the first human trial experiment on Oscorp Project #252. "The Suit", as we call it, is a protoplasmic medical dip tailored to a patient’s specific DNA code. By genetically finding natural solutions in the human body’s chemistry, The Suit is able to cleanse the body of any infection or disease such as cancer.

NORMAN OSBORN, young but ill, walks into frame in a patient’s gown.

PARKER (CONT’D): Our patient today is Dr. Norman Osborn. Dr. Osborn was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The goal in this experiment is to test the suit’s ability to cleanse the lymphomates on Dr. Osborn’s white blood cells, eliminating the cancer, while also strengthening and enhancing the physical and natural abilities of his body in
the process.

OSBORN: In other words, he’s turning my kryptonite into a superpower.

Osborn smiles at his joke, while Parker and Brock chuckle in relief at Osborn’s sense of humor.

BROCK: I don’t think you’ll be saving cats from trees anytime soon after this, Norm.

Osborn lays naked in the bed chamber as Parker walks to his side.

PARKER: Do you still trust me?

OSBORN: More than anyone.

Parker presses a button on the side of the chamber. The chamber doors slowly entrap Osborn inside.

PARKER: Begin the countdown.

Brock, carrying a stopwatch, sets the timer to 30 minutes and the seconds begin clocking down. Osborn looks out through the small window of the chamber. Parker finishes scribbling notes on his clipboard. From inside the chamber, the black goo begins to swarm, sticking itself to the window as well as covering Norman’s body from head to toe.

INT. OSCORP- STADIUM- PRESS CONFERENCE- ONE YEAR LATER- DAY
A young DONALD MENKEN sits next to a strong and healthy Norman Osborn. Osborn addresses the crowd of reporters.

OSBORN: I am happy to report that I am officially cancer-free and am returning to my business to ensure that all of Oscorp’s future plans experiments will resume as planned.

The crowd applauds Osborn and reporters beg to ask more questions about the situation.

MENKEN: One at a time, please.

INT. OSCORP- OSBORN’S OFFICE- NIGHT- FOUR YEARS LATER
Richard Parker sits across from Osborn’s desk.

PARKER: I don’t understand. You’ve been clean for four years now. It should have worked. You can trust me I’m telling the truth.

Osborn’s trembling hand is seen sporting a green rash.

OSBORN: I trust that you knew what you were doing, but this is a problem that needs to be fixed.

PARKER: I may need to alter the algorithm. Your body may be reacting poorly to the distachment of The Suit. It’s refusing to rehabilitate.

OSBORN: Promise me you will fix this before the end of the year. You and Brock’s careers are depending on it.

PARKER: It’s going to be complicated with the deadline for the spider serum coming up shortly. That and Peter-

OSBORN: You will fix this. I’m counting on you.

INT. ROOSEVELT STATION- RICHARD’S LAB- NIGHT
In his secret lab below the Roosevelt subway station, Parker, along with Brock, furiously try to multitask,
experimenting with a sample of The Suit in order to correct the algorithym. Parker is mainly focused on his spider
experiment with Brock working on The Suit. A picture of Peter sits next to his computer.

BROCK: Richard, come check this out.

Brock looks through a magnifier at a sample specimen of The Suit on a sick plant.

BROCK (CONT’D): I think I found the problem. It’s not improving the cells, it’s replacing them.

CUT TO: NEWS FOOTAGE
Images of Norman Osborn and the Oscorp logo are interwoven with news footage of Norman’s accident.

NEWS ANCHOR (VO): Norman Osborn of Oscorp Industries is in intensive care after collapsing in front of the audience at Oscorp’s biannual expo. Oscorp executive Donald Menken is stepping in as Osborn’s temporary replacement until more news on Osborn’s condition is heard.

INT. PARKER RESIDENCE- KITCHEN- NIGHT
Richard Parker is on the phone with Brock while MARY PARKER is cutting 5-year old PETER PARKER’s steak.

BROCK (VO): I overheard Menken talking about it this afternoon so I did a little investigating where I shouldn’t have. I almost got caught but I escaped.

INT. BROCK RESIDENCE- ENTRY WAY- CONTINUOUS
7-year old EDDIE BROCK approaches his father. Brock begins to sound panicky over the phone.

BROCK (CONT’D): I’m getting my family all packed up and we’re getting the hell out of here. Sooner or later, Richard, they’ll be onto you too.

EDDIE: Dad, I can’t find my baseball glove.

BROCK: That’s not important! We’re traveling light, Eddie. We’re not bringing your worthless crap.

INT. PARKER RESIDENCE- KITCHEN- CONTINUOUS
Mary looks at Richard suspiciously.

MARY: What’s going on?

INT. PARKER RESIDENCE- RICHARD’S OFFICE- NIGHT
Richard is recording his farewell message.

RICHARD: As a scientist, my choice is very clear now. I have to disappear, I have to get as far away from here as I can. But as a father, it means I may not see my boy again and nothing is as important to me as my son, Peter. Nothing in this world. But I have a responsibility to protect the world from what I’ve created and to protect him from what I know Oscorp is capable of. People will say I’m a monster for I’ve done, and maybe they’re right. I always thought that I had
more... time.

PETER (OS): Dad? Dad?

RICHARD: I’m sorry.

INT. BROCK’S CAR- MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
Edward Brock drives his vehicle through a rainstorm. His wife, JAMIE BROCK, is confused and hysterical. Eddie,
scared, grips a large stuffed animal in the back seat.

JAMIE: You need to tell me what’s going on!

BROCK: I can’t in front of our son!

JAMIE: Just tell me, please!

Their car is hit suddenly by a larger vehicle. In just a few moments, Eddie, still conscious watches as men in suits with guns exit the larger vehicle outside and examine the interior the vehicle. In the front seats, Edward Brock Sr.
and Jamie Brock are dead.

INT. BEN AND MAY PARKER’S HOUSE- NIGHT
Richard Parker and Mary Parker say goodbye to their son one last time as May and Ben watch from the other room. Mary is touching Peter’s cheek as Richard grabs her shoulders.

RICHARD: Mary, we have to go.

Richard and Mary begin to exit. Peter grabs his father’s hand.

PETER: Dad..

Richard pauses.

RICHARD: Be good.

He shuts the door.

INT. PLANE- MORNING
Mary Parker is dead from a shotgun blast, strapped into her seat tightly as their plane falls from the sky. The man who
shot her, and recently attacked Richard, is dead in the isle. Richard Parker hangs on for dear life as he, with an
open laptop, sends his files to his secret lab at the Roosevelt Station. The files are sent. The plane continues
to go down...

CUT TO BLACK.

Great ideas. I also hope they use the Ultimate Venom storyline for inspiration. Webb said that TASM3 will be the final film involving Peter's parents, so now seems like the best time to introduce Venom.

^Webb is obviously full of shit ;P
Nice write up, though. Sadly, don't think your ideas will happen anytime soon, in this franchise anyway.

I like your ideas, however Mary Jane stealing jewelry and all, kinda irks me.
Maybe, it's because sounds similar to Black Cat and how she's a thief and all.

But, that's just me nit-picking. Anyways, great job and keep it up!

I got an idea of how the Symbiote could a huge role in the entire series if anyone is interested? But I want to make a site like this to talk about it with. I'm new and need help, please.

I think it's okay. I like the inclusion of Mary Jane and the Venom Symbiote. I think it would be great if TASM 3 had maybe one or two story arcs and that's it.
