The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man

A thought out reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise.

This film should very briefly portray Spider-Man’s origin in the first 20-30 minutes, or in the credits (everyone already knows it by now anyway). After that, the story should dive right into Peter’s career as Spider-Man. In this film, Peter should still be in high school and around 17 ½ years old (and an actor that age should portray him).

Peter’s only love interest at this point should be the slightly of age Betty Brandt, J. Jonah Jameson’s secretary at the Daily Bugle (Gwen won’t come into the story until a second film, and Mary Jane will only be mentioned by Aunt May). However, Peter’s feelings for Betty are only that of a young boy’s crush and won’t be important to the story. In this film, Peter takes his job at the Bugle as a way of helping his aunt pay the bills. Electro should be the villain for this movie, saving some of Spidey’s greater opponents for later films (Electro will be recycled and used as a member of the “sinister six” later on). Maxwell Dillon won’t have any connection to Peter (unlike past Spidey film villains) and his transformation into Electro should play out as closely to the comics as possible.

Flash Thompson should have a larger role as Peter’s bully. By removing the romance story, this film will have more room to show Peter’s downfalls as he trains himself as Spider-Man (in some of the first comics, Spider-Man got his ass kicked and that should translate in this film) and to showcase more action scenes, which should be upped by Electro’s power. One rule put on this: The mask stays on more than it comes off (that, and web-shooters, not organic webbing). Spider-Man and Electro should have a, at least, ten minute full blown fight scene at the climax of the film (this film should get the near-3 hour treatment).

Unlike in past Spidey films, Electro will be arrested at the end and not killed. Also, there should be mentioning and evidence of other Marvel characters in the universe of the film: People talking about the Kingpin (which will benefit a future film in which Fisk appears), signs posted up for the Nelson and Murdock Law Firm, news reports about the Fantastic Four, etc.

Stay tuned for parts two through six.
