My take on a Punisher movie: Cast, plot and relation with the MCU.

My Punisher movie would be an adaptation of two awesome stories from the MAX series: 'The Slavers' and 'Naked Kill'.
Both are very cool storylines about human trafficking and sexual slavery, showing some of the most disgusting crimes that the Punisher have to face. Some characters of the two stories would be merged, and some 616 characters would be added. The inspiration would be movies like the Koreans 'I saw the devil' and 'The Man from Nowhere' and Hollywood's 'Man on Fire' and 'Taken'. The Punisher origins would be presented during the introduction/opening credits of the movie via Frank's narration, and pieces of TV/Journal news about the murder of his family and his vigilante actions. The movie takes place1 year after Castle started his war against crime.

Plot: After having his family gunned down by mobsters on the Central Park, and having nearly survived, The ex-marine, and spec-ops Frank Castle, became the vigilante know as The Punisher.
During one of his many "routine" vigilante murders of local drug dealers, Frank is interrupted by a young woman that opens fire on the dealer and his men but doesn't kill him. After killing the gangster and saving the woman, he managed to escape from Lynn Michaels, an undercover cop infiltrated as a prostitute who was accompanying the dealer. Taking the woman to his base, he
learn that her name is Viorica, and she tells that she was forced into prostitution and kept by slavers living in New York City
and that after she escaped they tried to track her down and murdered her child. After hearing her story The Punisher knows that a lot of people need to die.

Fitting in MCU: I think it's ok fitting The Punisher in the Cinematic Universe. While you have all this superheroes dealing with Aliens, supervillains, etc., who deal with the street criminals? It's not necessary, neither smart making Frank interact directly with the superguys, but you could have a nod, like someone saiyng that Castle is so dangerous that even S.H.I.E.L.D is concerned about his actions, or in his hideout Frank has his own set of Captain Amaerica's cards, showing
that the supersoldier is somehow a figure he respects. This could even be used to attract more public to a 'R Rated' comic book movie, focusing the marketing on the parents who watched 'the avengers' with their children, saying that they now have a movie just for them.

CAST

The Punisher/Frank Castle - David Giuntoli

The ex-marine, and spec-ops Frank Castle, became the vigilante know as The Punisher, after having his wife and two kids gunned down by mobsters on the Central Park. One year after the start of his war against crime, he is feared by criminals, and wanted by the police. After hearing the story of Viorica, he will put an end to the forced prostitution ring and human traffic conducted by a poweful criminal organization.
When casting Frank, i chose to saty away from the fans usual choices. For a long term franchise, i think a younger Punisher is a nice way to go with, so, David Giuntoli is my choice. He's a fresh face in the business, a charismatic good actor who is doing a nice job as main protagonist in NBC's Grimm. All he's need is some workout to gain more muscle mass, and we have a slightly younger Punisher.

Lynn Michaels - Yvonne Strahovski

In comics Lynn Michaels was an officer with the NYPD who accidently teams up with the punisher to apprehend a serial rapist. In the movie Lynn would be a NYPD officer, frustrated with the department inefficiency, who disguises herself as a prostitute, and infiltrates in the social circle
of the drug dealer called Antony Pavla. When a young woman opens fire on the dealer and his men, that are then killed by The Punisher, who runs away with the girl, Lynn finds herself caught in a plot involving human trafficking, slavery and even police corruption.
Yvonne is my choice, cause she is a beautiful actress with lots of potential, who did a good job in 'Chuck' and is keeping it
in 'Dexter'. She's also fisically similar with the character, something that is always good.

Viorica - Saoirse Ronan

A young european woman kidnapped from her village and forced to become a prostitute. Later taken to New York City, she eventually became pregnant giving birth to a girl. One day a girl escaped from the slavers and managed to get news to Viorica of a social worker named Jen Cooke who could help her. She escaped with her daughter and meet Jen. Soon, the slavers discover her whereabouts and kill her daughter, since she was out and the baby was with Jen's boyfriend. Viorica snaps and steals Jen's boyfriend's gun and goes after the slavers, seeking revenge.
Saoirse Ronan is a talented young actress, with a exotic beauty, who is working for her space on the acting business.
I think she is a good choice to deliver all the drama required by this role.

Jen Cooke - Sanaa Lathan

She's a social worker in New York City, who was doing an investigation about sexual slavery rings going on in the city. When she tried to help Viorica, Jen is tracked by the organization, what eventually leads to the murder of Viorica's daughter.
Sanaa is an actress with talent and beauty, that has a lot of experience in several genres of movies, and also looks
like the character.

Mickey Fane - Christoph Waltz

This character would be a amalgam between Mickey Fane from "Naked Kill" story and Tiberiu Bulat from "The Slavers". He's a billionaire playboy and the head of the criminal organization responsible for the human trafific and sexual slavery, an ex-military who formed his own mercenary company that served in several wars around the world. Later, moving to New York, he set up a forced prostitution ring. He is a depraved and immoral man, who loves violence.
Christoph Waltz. I think i don't need to explain why. Great actor, the best thing in 'Django Unchained' to me. Would be nice
see him playing this crazy bastard character.

Vera Konstantin - Monica Bellucci

This character would be a amalgam between Polly Hu from "Naked Kill" story and Vera Konstantin from "The Slavers". She is a Romanian who is involved in a sick-romantic-sexual relantionship with Mickey Fane. She is reponsible for the girls 'education'. Vera came up with the idea of rapping and beating the kidnapped women to make them more controllable, and many times she is the one who does it.
Monica has the maturity and the sexyness needed to play this amalgam of 'Polly' and 'Vera'.

Stu Westin - Billy Zane

A corrupt police detective, who is the organization's informant inside the police department. He is the responsible for making the NYPD go after Frank before he could put the pieces together and find out about the people behind the prostitution ring.
Zane has one of the most douchebags characters of the cinema in his curriculum (Caledon Hockley from Titanic).
Stu Westin is a douchebag type of character, so i think he could pull this out nicely.

Antony Pavla - Steve Buscemi

A drug dealer, who is a client of the organization. Viorica goes after him after her baby got killed, because she remembers that Pavla was one of the organization's clients in a 'party' where her and the other girls are sent to work one time.
A cameo type role to Steve Buscemi.

Killer B - Timothy Olyphant

Dangerous drug dealer, who has connections with Fane's organization. He uses a PCP variant, that gives him high resistance to pain, and can put him in a frenzied state, turning the man in a killing machine.
Olyphant has this crazy look in his eyes, you know? Think in his character in 'Live Free or Die Hard' by the end of the movie
and add some drug trip on it.

Recoil - Norman Reedus

A hired gun that work as body guard to the organization. He is skilled at hand to hand combat as well as with the use of firearms and explosives and also enjoys quoting cartoons while engaged in a life or death struggle.
Norman Reedus knows how to play a badass. Now think of him playing a crazy hired gun who loves quoting cartoons. KBOOM!

I'd love to see Giuntoli take on the role, I could see it working. Not bad.

Finally! A cast without Gosling, Gyllenhal, Hunnam, Pine or Hamm.
On that basis alone, I like this.
