This is a fancast of a few major players surrounding Thor Odinson. It is my second fancast on ComicBookMovie.com. I’ve actually casted a ton of Marvel characters but for this one it’s just Thor and his peeps.
And another note: I tried to stick with the live action movies as much as possible, with the idea that if I was in control of the movie, what would happen, but sometimes I just didn’t particularly like the actor so I casted my own actor. And yeah I get it, much of my cast is based on looks but, what are you gonna do huh? I know only limited amounts of actors. :) I get the feeling I should say more but as of right now, I can't think of anything to say.
Heroes/ Adventurers
Thor- Chris Hemsworth
He’s been cast in the Thor movie and it’s a damn good choice. His acting’s pretty decent based on what I’ve seen in Star Trek, the Perfect Getaway, and Ca$h. Nonetheless he has the perfect physicality and tone to pull off Thor, albeit a young one.
Thunderstrike- Karl Urban
After seeing him in Lord of the Rings, I think he’s perfect as the long haired warrior. He’s credible and has that veteran look. Just needs to beef up a bit.
Beta Ray Bill- Sean Bean (CGI/ MC)
Obviously, this has to be done with CGI and perhaps motion capture but Sean Bean can bring the ferocity and voice into Beta Ray Bill.
Odin- Anthony Hopkins
Mmhmm…
Frigga- Rene Russo
When I heard they cast her into the movie, I was actually pleasantly surprised. I’m not a fan of her in comedy but I think this role can really suit her.
Sif- Jaimie Alexander
I’ve never heard of Jaimie Alexander before her being cast but after hearing positive things about her, I kinda warmed up to her. She’s got the look too.
Jane Foster- Natalie Portman
Just… Yeah. I don’t know what to say other than that having a big name star who appeals to the masses like her adds credibility and visibility to the movie.
Balder the Brave- Justin Hartley
I actually like his performance on Smallville as a playboy-warrior combination which I feel he should bring to Balder. Not only is Balder a great warrior, he’s also be plagued by tragedy which Hartley has shown he can do on Smallville.
Valkyrie- Amber Heard
Yeah, I decided to cast a young Brunnhilde because that brings something different to the table instead of having everything exactly as expected. Imagine a young awesome female warrior Valkyrie. Plus she’s a good actress.
Fandral- Joshua Dallas
Hogun- Tadanobu Asano
Volstagg- Ray Stevenson
I actually enjoy Ray Stevenson’s acting and even though he looks like a very serious man, he also looks very jolly when he smiles. Good choice.
Hercules- Jeffrey Dean Morgan
He just looks the part and is a terrific actor.
Thor Girl- Missy Peregrym
This was a late addition to the cast on a personal part and I needed to find who I felt to be an opposite of Chris Hemsworth and Missy was it. She looks like someone who can kick butt.
Villains/ Criminals
Loki- Tom Hiddleston
Perfecto.
Ares- Kevin Durand
Loved his performance in Legion as a heavy weapon warrior.
Enchantress- Diora Baird
All she has to do is look sexy. JK. She has both that evil, seductive look and the nice girl look. Obviously, it changes with make up.
Executioner- Joseph Gatt
Not much acting involved here and he looked the part.
I also wrote a plot outline for my own Thor movie so that will possibly be released shortly.
