As you all know Avengers 2 is set to start filming in February 2014 and is set to take place in India and South Africa. It serves as the sequel to the Avengers 2012 film and as the conclusion of MCU Phase 2.

For the new recruits, Joss Whedon is adding both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, two siblings from the X-Men comics that serve as the son and daughter of Magneto. Even though Quicksilver is being used for X-Men Days of Future Past, Whedon still intends to use him

Now as for the villains of the sequel, Thanos is confirmed to be saved for last Avengers and Marvel Cinematic Universe Film which means that he will use a different villain and sure some of you are thinking Kang, Count Nefaria, MODOK, Grandmaster, Galactus, or Ultron, but none of those villains are gonna fit and besides, instead of going off topic, we should focus on sticking with what fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe that does not go turning it into a chaotic fantasy. Plus after Thanos had learned that the Avengers had been responsible for foiling their attack on Earth, Thanos is willing to test Nick Fury's initiative by assembling a group of villains who are enemies of the Avengers that have survived their encounter with them. This group of villains are called the Masters of Evil

They are originally lead by Baron Zemo, the masters were formed to help Zemo with his goals and to help eachother defeat the Avengers one by one. But here in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Zemo wasn't confirmed so someone else is going to lead them. With Crossbones confirmed to appear in Avengers 2 and another after Captain America the Winter Soldier, he is sure to be a member of the gang but not the leader. The leader of the Masters of Evil would have to be someone who would possess the same material similar to the scepter he gave Loki which possesses mind control abilities, and as it was powered by the tesseract, it also projects energy laser blasts and tesseract also possesses the power of disintegration. Both disintegration and influence are powers used by another major supervillain who serves as Iron Man's arch enemy and is exactly who we are expecting Joss Whedon to be using as the main villain for the Avengers sequel:

The Mandarin/Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley)

It is true that the Mandarin was not who we were expecting all because of the twist that Kevin Feige violated the character with got everyone confused and slandered his name onto Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) who certainly does not look like the character or use power rings like the Mandarin does and that is what really got everybody really upset. Fortunately since Ben Kingsley's character is still alive, there is still hope that Joss Whedon will bring him back as the more proper villain from the comics and by proper I mean power rings that emit magic. Afterall, Tony Stark at the end of Iron Man 3 said "We create our own demon and since Killian created Trevor as the Mandarin and made him take the fall for the explosions which led the guy into being arrested for the crime which really gives us a good reason why he would eventually become the villain. If Thanos is to be the one to assemble the Masters of Evil then he's the one that will give Trevor the rings to make him become the real and traditional Mandarin we all know respectively from the comics and with the rings, Mandarin will use them to take back what he had lost from his drug addictions and lead his new allies into battle against the Avengers and with are Crossbones (Frank Grillo), Abomination (Tim Roth), and the mystery villain from Thor the Dark World, assuming that it will be Kurse (Adewale -Akinnuoye-Agbaje). Kurse was a servant to Malekith the Accursed until the lord of the Dark Elves betrayed him while he is fighting Thor, and in a bid to destroy the Thunder God orders that a pitfall beneath the two be opened.

With a lineup of 4 villains in the MCU group, the group will do and stay tuned for further announcements

[frick] QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch. Give me Black Panther and Warbird (sounds a lot better of a name than Ms. Marvel). Also, leave The Mandarin alone. I don't want another shot at him. I liked the version we got, cause it means we got the character without being cartoony. As far as the rest of them go, I would like to see a return for Abomination, Crossbones and Kurse and a possible introduction of Baron Zemo. That would be really cool. As long as Thanos is saved for Avengers 3. After that, move onto different characters and go for more stand alone movies and trilogies.

This is pure speculation.

Jeez....run on sentences much?

Mandarin...I guess it would be kinda acceptable if Trevor had actually been pretending to be a witless actor the entire time, and WAS the real Mandarin, but it would have been smart to give an inkling of that before the end of the film. As it stands, he's just a patsy, and a pretty clueless one at that. If Thanos is going to come in and give power rings to someone and promote them to a supervillain, I really don't think the most important qualification is having pretended to be one before. As someone who laughed himself silly at the twist though, I'm fine if the Mandarin doesn't come up again in the MCU.

I also don't really believe they'll go in this direction, but Dark Avengers was such a great concept. Having an organized supervillain team is one thing, but to have them actually publicly replace the hero team, and hide their true nature from the public, is more powerful as well as personal (something Whedon has said is true about Avengers 2). Abomination, Crossbones, perhaps someone like Tyr (seen in Thor: The Dark World), and even a "rehabilitated" Justin Hammer with the Iron Patriot armor. This team would be government built, but of course turn out to be psychopaths they can't control.

Having Rhodey out of the IP armor also opens it up for him to go AWOL in Iron Man 4, with a way to let RDJ take a step back from the character as Rhodey sports the IM armor. Until, of course, he goes overboard and Tony has to reclaim it, etc etc.

i want to see Master of Evil too but i disagree about Trevor being the Mandarin. Ben Kingsley had a great potential to be a great villain but it turned out that he was just fallen actor. Get somebody else like Jack Chan- no i am kidding Ken Watanable to play a Chinese Mandarin(or North Korean) classic villain.

I remember Joss saying that he was going to save Thanos for the big finale which will probably be Avengers 3 but that doesn't mean it will be the very last Avengers movie. I am sure there will be other Avengers movie after Avengers 3.
Take a look at the X-Men. many people thought that X-Men 3:The Last Stand was going to be the last X-Men movie but now we got a Days of a Future Past and a possibility of getting an X-Men 4 with the triology cast.

I'm assuming PredatorRIsing is a kid, so it's okay to go somewhat easy on them.

also, for the record, Avengers 2 is FILMING in South Africa. There's nothing saying it's taking place there. Remember that Avengers filmed in Cleveland, but not one moment of the film took place in that city.

I cannot believe... CAN.NOT.BELIEVE.... that Feige messed up with setting up the theory and explanation of Tech Science Magic so carefully for Thor - through Capt.A ,the first two Iron Man and The Avengers.... only to botch the great opportunity of doing The Mandarin properly with Tech Science Magic-rings from a crashed Alien craft (just like in the comics)....

Can.Not.Believe it.

@marvel72
"i'll wait to hear it officially because this looks more like fan fic."

Well...it IS. The first couple paragraphs are sprinkled with facts, but the whole article is "speculation". I'd remove the word "strong" from the title though. Probably "updates" as well.

i would love to see The Masters of Evil as the main villains of Avengers 2. Lets hope its true and god I wish that they didnt mess up the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 then maybe we could have gotten the real one but no they had to screw it up for everyone.

Man most people these days act like they don't understand Mandarin, I say the pwople who are selfishly refusing to see the chance of the character's reintroduction are retarded and if they refuse to admit it and talk, back, they will only make themselves mkore retarted so other people who are not denying it are free to agree but to anyone else who is selfish enough to object, DO NOT COMMENT AND CRITICIZE this article at all!, This twist could actually be a diversion for Marvel executives to by some time on mastering the special effects for the cosmic rings
