Yet Another Black Panther FanCast

Yet Another Black Panther FanCast

My picks for a Black Panther film, namely, the one I wrote. Like it, hate it, read it anyway. Or not.

Black Panther is likely to get his long-awaited movie slot in Phase 3, and a lot of people are thinking of people, and I am one of those people. Here are my opinions that I've spent a lot of time on because I used them for a script. I like them. I'll put one picture of my top pick, then write reasoning and alternate choices. I'll rely on you all to know who the roles are.

T'Challa/Black Panther: Chadwick Boseman

I have seen Mr. Boseman on other fancasts and I agree. He is a lauded young up-and-comer, meaning relation to the character and a potential for many movies to come. I like both Djimon Hounsou and AAA, but I've regrettably come to think that they are too old. Mr. Boseman isn't African, but he should be able to act it. My other main picks were Ashley Walters, Aldis Hodge, Abdul Salis, and Marrese Crump, but I went with Chadwick Boseman.

M'Baku/Man-Ape: Tongayi Chirisa

This guy looks like the original M'Baku and is the same age as Mr. Boseman, which is good for implying rivalry. I had considered Ricky Whittle and Damien Dante Wayans, but after seeing Mr. Chirisa on another fancast, I can't think of another person very easily.

Erik Killmonger: Raw Leiba

I could explain myself, or you could look at this picture. I also considered Chike Okonkwo, both on their look as I'm not familiar with their acting, but this picture says it all.

Ulysses Klaw: Mads Mikkelson

I think that Mads Mikkelson, a fantastic European actor, is fantastic, and I prefer him to the other choices I've seen, like Fiennes and Fichtner. I've liked him ever since I saw Casino Royale, and I was initially disappointed when he was supposed to be in Thor: The Dark World, due to his likely absence here, but now Christopher Eccleston has the role, and Mr. Mikkelson is available. I've also considered Matthias Schoenaerts (a rising Belgian actor, but a bit young) and Benedict Cumberbatch (with Khan persona and hair), and I like them too, but given a choice, I'd take the above.

Now from enemies to allies.

T'Chaka: Tim Russ

I haven't seen him on any other cast lists. I like to think I'm original in this regard. He looks more African than Denzel Washington, the usual favorite, he has an imposing stature, and he can be very regal and collected (Star Trek, anybody?). I haven't considered anyone else, nor will I. I'm keeping this pick as mine.

N'Gassi: Dennis Haysbert

Yes, I'm serious. The Allstate guy. I don't really like those commercials either, but I'm willing to look past them. He has an advising voice, and a presence that suggests association with royalty and a friendship with Mr. Russ. He is my other completely original pick, and I don't really want to change it either.

W'Kabi: Michael Obiora

T'Challa's bodyguard, ward, and general right-hand man. I looked for a guy that looked similar yet wouldn't upstage, and I picked Mr. Obiora over my other picks of Heshima Thompson, Nelsan Ellis, and Aml Ameen.

Zuri: Keith David

An old battleaxe warrior/advisor in the comics and an old battleaxe general in my script, I picked Keith David because I like him, but I am indecisive on this role, also considering the long list of Danny Glover, Delroy Lindo, Rudolph Walker, Lennie James and Tony Todd. I would appreciate some comments on this area most of all, though you can comment on anything you want, of course. I may not agree with it, but I will defend to the death your right to comment on it. Just like Zuri would defend T'Challa and Wakanda to the death.

Monica Lynne: Meagan Good

T'Challa's American singer girlfriend. I also considered (on varying levels of seriousness) Nicole Beharie (who worked with Mr. Boseman on 42, a serious decision though I don't know of her singing ability), Alicia Keys (on a medium level of seriousness), Jennifer Hudson (on a low level of seriousness), and Denise Vasi (almost no seriousness, I just thought she looked pretty and not African enough to be on the Dora Milaje).

For some final notes, I will say that James Earl Jones is my only decision for the voice of Bast the Panther God. Just imagine Mufasa. Are you? Good. I don't need a picture for a voice. For N'Gamo, the W'Kabi to M'Baku, I thought of either Joshua Elijah Reese or Nate Parker, depending on whether I wanted a functioning warrior type (for the former) or a comics-type weaker man that M'Baku takes in to call him a dolt, in typical comic-megalomaniac fashion. I'm increasingly thinking the latter. For Jiru, the W'Kabi to N'Gassi, I thought of Rashaan Nall or Wesley Johnathan, somebody with the curly sticking-up kind of hair. I'd appreciate comments on this also. And as I mentioned, I like both Djimon Hounsou and AAA, and as they're too old in my opinion, I gave them roles of S'Yan and Achebe respectively in consolation.

For my movie, the first one will be in New York, with appearances by the Security Council, who were the big TV screens in Avengers, bringing in Monica and eventual Avengers connection. The sequel I am planning is back in Wakanda. Both should be explored, and the earlier the Avengers connection is brought up, the better, explaining the order.

To conclude, I am fully aware that all this work I've put into this is 99.999% for absolutely nothing. But that's .001% for something, and I can retain fanboy hope. Either way, Black Panther desperately deserves a movie, and I'd like to contribute in any way I can. Maybe somebody important will look at this! Or not. Most likely, it will just be a lot of people like me. Hope you all, the masses, enjoyed it. Or not.

My only problem with this fancast is that James Earl Jones cannot voice the panther god. Because she is a woman, other than that this was pretty great!

I like this fan cast a lot. I'm just kidding, it's me, the author. I still like JEJ as Bast, as while the Egyptian Bast is a goddess, the Marvel Bast is a god, as far as I know. And anyway, gods are usually capable of manifesting in any gender. Keep the comments coming!
