For anyone not keeping up with this news; Marvel is currently commemorating the Fantastic Four Week and, during their Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Week livestream today, the publisher announced that the Fantastic Four will be making their return to Marvel Games.

To celebrate the occasion, Marvel will be releasing four new Fantastic Four variant covers for the upcoming issues of Marvel's First Family — each representing one of the games Mr. Fantastic, The Human Torch, Invisible Woman and The Thing will be joining now that they're back at Marvel Games: Marvel Contest of Champions, Marvel Future Fight, Marvel Puzzle Quest, and Marvel Strike Force.

It's great to see that the Fantastic Four are finally getting the attention they deserve, especially after being completely neglected by Marvel due to the whole movie rights dilemma with 20th Century Fox. The good news doesn't stop there since some Fantastic Four-related content will also be making its way into Marvel's Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4, so there's a lot more for fans of Marvel's First Family to look forward to in the coming days.

Dr doom is the greatest villain of all time. There I said it. He's the only villain to consistently win but end up losing because he's really just bored that he won or some bs comic logic stuff has him getting tricked. I can see Doom losing because of a dance off before guardians of the galaxy.

@MyCoolYoung - can't wait to finally get a great Dr Doom

@HeavyMetal4Life - me too. I can see them setting up another big bad only for Doom to come in and steal their powers.

Doom is going to be awesome

This absolutely melts my heart! Hopefully, they'll release X-Men and Fantastic Four DLC for Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite and Lego Marvel's Avengers because their absence in Infinite was part of the reason the latest game in the video game series flopped.

@brodie999 - yeah but it was kinda Marvel's fault. They only gave fox the movie rights, not game rights. And there was no strategic value from taking those characters out of games and comics.

@Origame - To be fair they cancelled the F4 comics because they were selling like shit.

The only strategy involved with that was to not lose money.

But they did kind of shaft the X-Men in a hard way.

@CorndogBurglar - but they did both fantastic four and x men at about the same time. This was definitely an ill conceived idea for getting the movie rights back.

@Origame - Yeah I don't disagree. I mean no one really knows for sure.

I'm just saying with the F4 their comics were selling abysmally, the movies were all horrible, and the general interest in the F4 was kind of non-existent. So I could see them not wanting to spend any more time, money, or effort on them by putting them in things that would more than likely lose them money.

X-Men were different though. They have always brought in profit to some degree for Marvel. But their comics didn't get outright cancelled either. They just pushed them to the back burner, killed off main characters, left less than interesting X-Team rosters and tried to replace them with the Inhumans lol. Oh, and still removed them from nearly all merchandise and video games.

So there's a pretty strong argument for the F4, but the X-Men are highly questionable.

@Origame - I know. But I want them to make up for that by introducing late DLC for the characters in the games they were absent from. Marvel games are nothing if they don't have the whole Marvel Universe in them.

@CorndogBurglar - The tragic irony of the X-men is the movies killed them in other media largely by accident.

The movies redefined who the X-men were to the general public and to their target demographic.
The result was that after a decade when seeing X-men toys or merch kids did not recognize them as X-men because they didn't look like the movies.
At the same time toys and merch made using the movie versions didn't sell well either because real actors in black leather is not appealing to children.

Awesome covers with my favorite probably being the first one with Ben Grimm aka The Thing ready to clobber some bad guys. Really great to see the return of the first family of Marvel as well as Marvel's best villain Dr. Doom.

Other than Spider-Man, the F4 are easily my favorite Marvel characters out there. Gotta love the First Family
