DOCTOR STRANGE Actor Mads Mikkelsen Might Be Interested In Playing DOCTOR DOOM In Noah Hawley's Movie
We known Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange) didn't have a great experience while auditioning for the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, but might he be interested in giving the Doctor Doom solo film a shot?...
Mads Mikkelsen has long been a fan-favorite choice to play the villainous Doctor Doom on the big screen, and it sounds like he might just be interested in taking a look at Fargo and Legion creator Noah Hawley's planned solo movie - provided it meets certain criteria, that is.
The Hannibal actor actually auditioned for Josh Trank's disastrous Fantastic Four reboot a few years back, and although we assumed it was for the role of Victor Von Doom at the time, it sounds like he was actually up for Reed Richards!
At any rate, despite not having a great experience there ("What am I doing in here? The audition was only about long arms. No lines. I felt a little funny”), Mikkelsen gave a positive response when asked if he might be interested in 20th Century FOX's Doctor Doom project:
“Yeah, it’s always interesting. They are experimenting with doing some of the villain’s stories as well. Let’s see if they do that. I’m not familiar that they’ve done it with anyone yet. They haven’t done it with The Joker [and] they haven’t done it with The Penguin. So we’ll see when that day comes.”
However, it sounds like Doom would have to be written as more than just a standard, one-dimensional bad guy for Mikkelsen to consider taking on the role:
"Well, I hope that all characters have a little more rounded shape in the sense that they have two sides of the coin. Yes, they are villains. Hannibal is a baddie – but at the same time, we kind of like him. I think all characters – goodies or baddies, should have a little of both and I think that every actor looks for that in a character.”
