We've had so many rumors relating to Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot at this stage that they're getting hard to keep track of, but until we get an official casting announcement, they're sure to keep coming!
This latest rumor comes from insider MTTSH, who claims that Galactus - who, it should be noted, hasn't even been confirmed to appear himself - will have a female herald in the movie.
Previous rumors have suggested that Silver Surfer will make an appearance in Fantastic Four, but it's been speculated that he could show up in the post-credits scene, which means the Eater of Worlds will most likely have a different herald to do his bidding beforehand.
Galactus has had several female heralds over the course of his Marvel Comics tenure, including Stardust and a version of Silver Surfer from Earth-829 known as Juno. However, if this rumor does prove to be accurate, we'd say Frankie Raye, aka the original famle herald "Nova", is a stronger possibility.
We're still no closer to finding out which actors will play the members of Marvel's First Family in the movie, but Matt Shakman did recently confirm that the cast has been finalized, so we're just waiting on that announcement.
Last we heard, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) was a "lock" for Sue Storm, while Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn is said to be close to signing on to play her brother, Johnny. There are conflicting reports about the actors in contention for Reed Richards (Adam Driver may still be a frontrunner), and The Bear and Netflix's Punisher actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach is still rumored to be up for Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
Shakman will direct FF from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.
“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
