FANTASTIC FOUR: Galactus Rumored To Have A Female Herald In MCU Reboot

Another day, another Fantastic Four rumor, and this latest one relates to Galactus and the herald that will be by his side in the upcoming Marvel Studios reboot...

We've had so many rumors relating to Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot at this stage that they're getting hard to keep track of, but until we get an official casting announcement, they're sure to keep coming!

This latest rumor comes from insider MTTSH, who claims that Galactus - who, it should be noted, hasn't even been confirmed to appear himself - will have a female herald in the movie.

Previous rumors have suggested that Silver Surfer will make an appearance in Fantastic Four, but it's been speculated that he could show up in the post-credits scene, which means the Eater of Worlds will most likely have a different herald to do his bidding beforehand.

Galactus has had several female heralds over the course of his Marvel Comics tenure, including Stardust and a version of Silver Surfer from Earth-829 known as Juno. However, if this rumor does prove to be accurate, we'd say Frankie Raye, aka the original famle herald "Nova", is a stronger possibility.

We're still no closer to finding out which actors will play the members of Marvel's First Family in the movie, but Matt Shakman did recently confirm that the cast has been finalized, so we're just waiting on that announcement.

Last we heard, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) was a "lock" for Sue Storm, while Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn is said to be close to signing on to play her brother, Johnny. There are conflicting reports about the actors in contention for Reed Richards (Adam Driver may still be a frontrunner), and The Bear and Netflix's Punisher actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach is still rumored to be up for Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

Shakman will direct FF from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”

Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.

@tmp3 - The reason why this shit gets traction is it’s all so believable. Marvel ain’t ever beating the MSHEU allegations because they’re all true.

@Vigor - I mean if they wanted to introduce another female Muslim hero, Secret Invasion could've been a decent time to introduce Doctor Faiza Hussain, who was introduced in the first arc of Captain Britain and MI: 13, which tied-in to the event.

Granted, given Makkari still had Excalibur, she may not have become a superhero yet.

@Vigor - because that's more important than keeping the comic book movies somewhat like the comic books.

@Ryguy88 - And Black Widow and Hawkeye weren't founding Avengers in the comics. Your point?

@comicfan100 - But why can't his first Hearld be The Silver Surfer?

You know comic book fans have been waiting years to seeing Silver Surfer and Galactus together then he can leave and have a huge fight.
marvel72
marvel72 - 10/23/2023, 9:33 PM
@comicfan100 - Hawkeye joined Avengers #16 so just over a year of the team forming.

So very early on, Black Widow wasn't that early but I believe they were founding members in the ultimate universe, you know like Black Nick Fury.

@marvel72 - Galactus has various Heralds at any given time. This movie isn't even in production. Silver Surfer could still make an appearance. We're losing our minds over speculation from a Twitter scooper

Im all for female roles, especially lead roles, BUT, just do it right. The best female role i seen so far just in Marvel movies, IMO, was OKOYE - Black Panther… hands down.

@BeNice123 - I mean, this should just be the standard for all roles.

@EskimoJ - I still remember the 90s when the concern for representation wasn't how many poc were being portrayed, but how they were being portrayed. Even remember practices of forced inclusions being criticized and called token characters.

@BeNice123 - shouldn't that be the standard for all roles and not just female roles?

Umm.. Frankie Raye was Not the "original Nova." That would be Richard Ryder.

It would help if the post-ers here actually knew anything about comics.
asherman93
asherman93 - 10/23/2023, 7:39 PM
@knomad - I can't believe I get to say this, but, um, actually...
Frankie Raye debuted in November 1975. Richard Rider debuted in September 1976.

(Though I guess if you want to get technical, she didn't get powers until January 1982, didn't become Galactus's herald until that same July, and didn't go by "Nova" until August of the following year.)
NateBest
NateBest - 10/23/2023, 7:41 PM
@knomad - Yes, not the original "Nova", but she was the original *female herald*. I'm thinking he confused the two while writing it up.

Frankie debuted in 1975, but didn't take the name "Nova" until the 80s. Richard Ryder/Nova had disappeared from comics from 79-89, so maybe the writers thought the name was up for grabs?

We are also talking entirely different characters. Richard, Ryder of the Nova Corps and Frankie Raye as a herald of you.

@asherman93 - I know.. I have the comics where she debuted as Frankie and where she became Nova. And the original Nova #1.

No problem with a skirt playing herald.

As long as Galactus is a black drag queen prostitute cross dressing left-handed anarchist terrorist cannibal, I'll be okay with it.
