After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, most fans expected John Krasinski to also play Earth-616's Mister Fantastic in Fantastic Four. Instead, the cameo appears to have been little more than a way of appeasing fans desperate to see the actor suit up as Reed Richards, and a new frontrunner has now emerged for the role.
Yesterday, we learned that Star Wars actor Adam Driver is reportedly in "final talks" to play the leader of Marvel's First Family, and some potential names for Sue Storm have since started doing the rounds online.
According to Grace Randolph (we know, but she has shared at least some reliable scoops in the past), Mission: Impossible - Fallout star Vanessa Kirby is currently at the top of Marvel Studios' list. She also starred in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and counts the likes of The Crown and Everest among her many credits.
Other actresses who could potentially play the MCUs Invisible Woman supposedly include Mila Kunis (Family Guy), Allison Williams (M3GAN), and Jodie Comer (Free Guy).
Casting for the Marvel Studios reboot reportedly began back in February and it was reported at the time that "the focus will be casting Sue Storm first and building out the rest of team after she is set."
WandaVision director Matt Shakman will be at the helm of Fantastic Four, and while a lot of names have been rumoured for Reed, including Driver, no one has been officially cast yet.
We've heard nothing about the Human Torch and The Thing, though Galactus and the Silver Surfer are expected to serve as the reboot's main antagonists, a decision which has only served to increase excitement for the reboot.
With the movie coming out in very close proximity to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the team is expected to be front and centre there alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
