Another day, another Fantastic Four casting rumor!
A recent report indicated that Marvel Studios has yet to lock in a single actor for the upcoming reboot, with Adam Driver potentially "pricing himself out" of the role of Reed Richards, and Margot Robbie passing on Sue Storm. Daveed Diggs is still said to be the front-runner to play Ben Grimm/The Thing, but nothing is set in stone (no pun intended).
Now, reliable insider Daniel Richtman is claiming that Vanessa Kirby - who is said to have been in contention for the part for quite some time - has been officially offered the role of Invisible Woman. It sounds like the gig is hers for the taking, but, as far as we're aware, no deal has been finalized.
The Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning actress did recently say that it would be "an honor" to play the character in an interview, so it may only be a matter of time before the trades confirm her casting - though it's best not to make any assumptions when it comes to this movie!
It's been pretty quiet on the Human Torch front, but another rumor - though one we'd put a lot less stock in - doing the rounds is claiming that Stranger Things season 4 breakout Joseph Quinn (Eddie) is in the running to play Johnny Storm.
Hopefully, we'll get some official casting announcements soon, but for now, let us know what you make of these latest rumors in the comments.
Matt Shakman will direct Fantastic Four from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.
“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”
