Jeremy Slater: FANTASTIC FOUR Will Be The Movie That, "The Fans Deserve"

It was revealed yesterday that Fox had hired Jeremy Slater to write director Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot. He has now taken to his Twitter account to briefly share his thoughts on getting the job, promising fans that he WILL deliver.

Neither Fantastic Four (2005) or Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) flopped at the box office, but they certainly weren't met with praise from critics OR fans. Regardless of whether it was the awful casting decisions (Jessica Alba as Susan Storm for example) or major changes from the source material (cloud Galactus) there is no getting around the fact that they failed to deliver in almost every respect. The news that Josh Trank - director of the brilliant low-budget superpowers flick Chronicle - has signed on to helm the reboot was understandably met with a very positive response, while Jeremy Slater being hired as the writer is also considered a smart move by 20th Century Fox. Many thanks to @Marvel_Freshman for the heads up in regards to these Tweets.

Well, the fact that he's actually a FAN of the Fantastic Four has got to be a good sign, right? The last time a major superhero fanboy penned a comic book movie screenplay, we ended up with Marvel's The Avengers, so keep your fingers crossed and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

I've read good things about this guy, so he gives me a small measure of hope for this movie.

I guess it makes sense, they could have Silver Surfer or Galactus in it again (THE RIGHT WAY) since they're introducing the cosmic aspect to the Marvel movies.

Cool, I enjoyed the first too. I hope they can bring it to a slightly more serious tone. And please cast a better actor for Doom, the others were tolerable but Doom sucked.

I really like the comics, especially the older ones. Hopefully, they can bring us an intelligent, exciting, fun superhero flick with this!

I guess the VFX are going to look a lot better and that they go mo-cap with The Thing. He can be just as cool as Ruffalo is as Hulk right now!

No faith at all..i am generally not a hater, but i am on the list of people who have hated everything fox has produced. x1-3 were weak at best, FC had it moments but wiped ass with cannon, FF1&2 were HORRIBLE, DD and Electra sucked..and Wolverine was criminal. Please, please, please...give the rights back to Marvel Studios. Give them a number, a big one...get ur money back for all the loses and return FF and DD...Xmen is hopeless, they will never relinquish that...

It seems that with the creation of Marvel Studios, other studios who own rights to Marvel properties are being forced to try and make better super hero movies. I said try.

How about we keep this guy, but we let him helm a FF movie for the MCU with a script written by somebody he and Marvel choose, rather than FOX.

@thalidomide

they did not get the movie rights back. FF and Daredevil could of went back but FOX Studio has move forward to do another movie so it stopped Marvel Studio to get the rights back.

Marvel got Blade and Punisher back for now.

I'm sure it'll be good. And, I usually don't see eye-to-eye with filmmakers when they say they're going give us the film "we deserve".

That's great that he's a fan. Fans 'get' comics. Will this be another origin story? CGI Thing? I wonder what FF heroes and villains they own the rights to? Mole Man as their first villain?

I heard this guys really good, and josh trank is directing? Wow Fox is making some improvements. This movie has some serious potential, all they need is a good cast and story.

Fantastic Four is one of my favourite comic teams.
I'm happy a director has come along that really wants to make a film they deserve and a film we need!

I just hope the company doesn't drive him away through "creative differences" It can happen with these situations.

Another unneeded reboot just to keep the rights..

Xmen will never come back but was at least hoping they'd forget about DD or FF or at least everything would fall apart right as deadline ended...

20th Century Fox's writer and director selection support old rumors around the Reborn project. We're getting a young Ultimate Univese cast (a la JJ Abrams' Star Trek). The origin will include Victor von Damme— during a teleportation experiment which lands them in the N-Zone (therefore they're "reborn"). We might see something guerilla filmmaking techniques and found footage camerawork. And Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) will probably be cast as Jonathan Storm. Bet on it!
