Neither
Fantastic Four (2005) or
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) flopped at the box office, but they certainly weren't met with praise from critics OR fans. Regardless of whether it was the awful casting decisions (Jessica Alba as Susan Storm for example) or major changes from the source material (cloud Galactus) there is no getting around the fact that they failed to deliver in almost every respect. The news that Josh Trank - director of the brilliant low-budget superpowers flick
Chronicle - has signed on to helm the reboot was understandably met with a very positive response, while Jeremy Slater being hired as the writer is also considered a smart move by 20th Century Fox. Many thanks to
@Marvel_Freshman for the heads up in regards to these Tweets.
Well, the fact that he's actually a FAN of the
Fantastic Four has got to be a good sign, right? The last time a major superhero fanboy penned a comic book movie screenplay, we ended up with
Marvel's The Avengers, so keep your fingers crossed and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.
