THE FANTASTIC FOUR Release Date Delayed; ASSASSIN'S CREED Now In Limbo

The Fantastic Four has now been delayed, though Josh Trank's new take on the iconic Marvel characters hasn't suffered anywhere near as badly as Assassin's Creed. The big screen adaptation of the Ubisoft franchise starring Michael Fassbender no longer has a release date at all!

It's not a major delay, but the wait for Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four has now got a little longer as Fox have shifted its release date from June 19th, 2015 to August 7th, 2015. The reason for the change isn't quite clear, though as filming has already come to an end, it's likely more of a strategic choice than for reshoots or post-production issues. A six week delay is a shame, but nowhere near as disappointing as the fact that Assassin's Creed is now undated. Michael Fassbender is attached to star in the ambitious project which will bring the popular video game series to the big screen. Ubisoft are also hoping to turn Splinter Cell into a movie starring Tom Hardy, and while that all seems fine (it's at a different studio anyway), this isn't particularly good news for Assassin's Creed.

Disappointing news from both the Fantastic Four and Assassin's Creed camps. Although it's not a terribly long delay, so if they need/want that little time I say give it to them. I'm honestly more disappointed by the Assassin's Creed bit.

Although, I will say that I hope this does not mean Assassin's Creed is suffering, production wise. I doubt this, however, as Fantastic Four needed to move; their previous release date would have had them positioned just a week after Jurassic World, whereas now, they are paired up against Goosebumps, with nothing major set around.

Is there any other big movie being released in August? If no, then that means Fox wants to go big with Fantastic Four.

This is just smart business. The saw how well guardians did with weak competition to go up against in august (notoriously the worst month of the summer blockbuster season) and they just hope to capitalize on it. The same reasons studios are going to start releasing tent pole films in March. It's all about making the most money.

But cue the butt hurt people who say this movie will suck. Just remember the last two Fox super hero movies (first class and dofp) everyone said was going to suck, but didn't. I think fox is getting it's shot together because they are finally learning quality will make you much more money as opposed to quantity. I think this movie will surprise a lot of ppl.

I think the fact that it will have to go against Jurassic World, Ted 2, and Terminator are the reasons it was pushed back.
But seeing how GotG did good business in August, FF thinks it can do the same

I pray to Odin that The Fantastic Four movie will get delayed long enough for the rights to revert back to Marvel. The Guardians of The Galaxy coming into contact with Galactus, Silver Surfer or Skrulls is something that NEEDS to happen. Kree/Skrull War for Avengers 4 anyone?

Marvel is teaching everyone to use every date possible.
Marvel didn't just start all the cinematic universes but it will also change the movie "seasons".

August probably looks more appealing to FOX after Guardians August surprise. Much more appealing than doing what Sony did and releasing inferior CBM pieces of shit like Amazing Spider-Man 1+2 in June, during the summer movie mash up.
