Going back to those owned by fox, the fantastic four have had 2 (3 if you count the low budget) Films so far. All of them have been disappointing. The first fantastic four movie was almost good but was cheesy and not quite what we wanted. We don’t talk about the second one. But we hear they are getting a reboot! It will tie into the Fox universe so that’s going to be a different dynamic. Fox has all the mutants and the Fantastic four don’t usually play around with them as much as with the other humans o the cosmic universe. There have been rumors if the film flops the rights will return to marvel. Don’t see them making 3 bad fantastic four movies so hopefully we get a good universe opposite the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Without further ado we will get to know the characters.

The Thing

“It’s clobbering time!” No marvel universe can ever expect to be fully complete without that line yelled at the perfect time. Ben Grimm was a tough guy pilot who always promised Reed Richards he’d fly his space ship. When Richards called him up one day to actually fly it, Grimm reluctantly accepted. He flew Susan and Johnny Storm along with Reed up into space where they were hit with a cosmic storm. The ship couldn’t defend against it and eventually they crashed back on earth, not radiated with super powers. Grimm had turned into a rocky “Monster” and names himself The Thing out of self-pity. He has always looked for a cure but if he ever changes back to human he almost instantly returns to Rock form to in order to take on a villain. The Thing is nearly impossible to harm and has amazing strength. He loses no speed however due to the flexibility of his rock form, and knows many forms of fighting form boxing to jujutsu. The thing has taken on the hulk many times and has been a great match for the green monster. Though under most circumstances he is not able to defeat him. The Thing is probably in the Avengers more than any of the other Fantastic Four but even at that not a lot. They are going to make the thing full CGI in the upcoming reboot much like the hulk.

Mr. Fantastic

Reed Richards is one of the smartest people in the Marvel Universe, he rivals even Tony Stark. He even built his own space ship (the one that Grimm piloted). When they crash landed and became mutated, Reed has the ability not to essentially become elastic. He is able to “stretch” into any form he wants. He can also essentially harden his body such as forming his hands into clubs or hammers in order to pack some more punch. He has also saved people by turning into a parachute or other forms from time to time. Probably his greatest feat was at one time he increased his mass and size in order to be has strong and tough as the thing. He has always been the leader of the Fantastic Four and more than likely always will.

Invisible Women

There are actually 2 pictures up there, one of them is of her in her invisible form… No? Ok moving on. Sue Storm is the wife of Reed ever sense they got married… Her brother is Johnny Storm the Human Torch as well. When the group got their super powers Sue got the Ability to turn invisible. She does it by changing the light rays around her. She can also do this to objects or people for up to about 40 thousand feet in volume, also she has the ability to make invisible objects visible. As well as these, sue has the ability to make psionic fields of force that she can use for different ways. Usually she uses them for force fields. Sue also has the ability to project them at people like a sphere or an arrow of some kind. She was trained by the Iron Fist and is normally referred to as the most powerful of the fantastic four.

Human Torch

The sister of Sue Storm, Johnny has always been a tad bit of a hot head. Figuratively and literally, Johnny’s powers after the mutation were becoming a human torch. He has the ability to engulf himself in fire, and thrust himself through the air with it. He has control over all fire around him including the ability to decrease a flame or increase it. He also can shoot streams or balls of fire from himself or from fire around. He has control over his flame so much that he can carry someone without them being harmed or even feel the heat coming off of him. His maximum heat is nova flame which starts to harm him. He is able to use this nova heat as a weapon however projecting it at others. Storm also has great hand to hand combat abilities and his flame is limited by oxygen around it. Hence large amounts of water is able to put him out. Since he is going to be put in the X-men universe seeing a battle between him and pyro would be quite a fight.

Well that’s the Fantastic Four, now on to some of the characters associated with them.

Dr Doom

Victor Von Doom was born to a witch, so yeah you can see the start of his evil. He travelled to the United States after her death and meet Reed Richards. Victor had created a machine to be able to communicate with the dead. Reed told him the dangers, but of course Doom didn’t listen. When he used it exploded in his face with a little help by the tampering of Ben Grimm (simply he didn’t like Victor and later blames himself for Dr Doom), it left a scar on Doom’s face. After this he travels to Tibet, a few monks save his life from a mountainside collapsing. In turn Dr Doom learns their ways and then takes control of them. Eventually he leaves vowing to punish those responsible which of course are the Fantastic Four especially. He had some mystical abilities from the monks which he fine-tuned with some help until he had some incredible powers including energy projection, shields, and demonic creatures to help him fight. He used his great brain to be able to use scientific ways to steel other peoples powers. Over the years he continued to learn new powers until now he has psionic abilities, control over machines, great hand to hand ability. His armor can make a force field, electric shock, and also allows him to survive in space. Despite all of his evil Dr Doom has quite the honor code. If he vows something he keeps it to his grave, he also will not kill someone who was weakened or injured from other circumstances. He also like to fight those trying to kill the fantastic four because he wants to be the one to kill them off. Dr Doom is one of the greatest villains of all time, and an argument could be made for at least the greatest Marvel villain.

Galactus

The next villain is one of the most unstoppable begins in the world. Galan was an explorer from the planet Taa many years ago. When their universe starts to be destroyed he and others jump aboard a spaceship and survive. That is until they are hit by the “Big Crunch” that kills all of the survivors except Galan who is transformed by bonding with the sentience of the universe. Years and years later he now comes back known as Galactus. Galactus finds himself hungry, so hungry that he eats an entire planet. Then in memory of his home world he creates a second Taa. Galactus essentially must eat planets to survive hence the nickname the devourer of worlds. Galactus then decides to start making heralds. He starts with Tyrant, who rebels, then he make the fallen one who Galactus doesn’t really like until he makes the Silver Surfer. After this Galactus will continue to attack earth in attempt to devour it (while eating a few other planets along the way) and is always repelled. Usually by the Fantastic Four. Galactus has a power called the Power Cosmic which is how he empowers his heralds by giving them bits and pieces of the power. Galactus can use the Power Cosmic to do just about anything. Teleport, force fields, change in matter, telepathy, telekinesis, create life, resurrect the dead, manipulation, recreating entire worlds, energy projection, black holes. So yeah anything. He wears armor to help regulate his energies, he is weakened drastically if he doesn’t feed which is lots of times the way he is repelled from eating a world like earth. Galactus has been on the big screen. Don’t be too depressed if you couldn’t tell who he was because… well he was a cloud. In the second Fantastic Four film. Yeah I said we don’t talk about that but just had to bring that up. Galactus is the oldest being in the universe and probably the most powerful. Usually when he is repelled it is by the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer.

The Silver Surfer

Ah I couldn’t talk about the Fantastic Four AND Galactus without the Silver Surfer. Norrin Radd lives on a planet Zenn-La eventually Galactus comes to eat up his planet so Radd bargains with him. Saying he will serve him, finding other planets for Galactus if he just stays away from his. Galactus agrees and makes him the Silver Surfer. The Silver surfer does as he’s told until he comes to earth, he meets the Fantastic Four and decides to help them because of their nobility. After they fight off Galactus he creates a barrier around earth affecting only the Silver Surfer forcing him to stay on earth. Eventually over time he finds ways to escape and such he also joins different teams such as the defenders and fights evil on and off earth alongside many of the heroes. He eventually aids Galactus in saving one of his Harold and thus the barrier is broken. The Silver Surfer again has the Power Cosmic which gives him super human abilities. He is able to live without necessities like food or air and can survive in just about any element, even black holes. He has superhuman abilities and can absorb energy ad well as enter hyperspace to fly at the speed of light. He has also at times been able to time travel (with others as well). He can also project energy powerful enough to destroy planets, create black holes, and heal others. He can make illusions, create forms of life, and detect objects light years away. He can see through time and is made of a cosmic material that is nearly indestructible. His board is make of a material almost like his own and is mentally linked to him, he can move it on and off of the board and he is able to repair any breaks (as incredibly rare as they are) in little to no time. Essentially the Silver Surfer is probably the most overpowered hero in the universe, an argument can be made for a few but I would put my cards on the Silver Surfer any day. He would make an interesting character in any universe due to his connection with Galactus and his amazing abilities. Giving him challenges without under powering him would be the challenge with him.

Well there you have it, these are the characters owned by Fox that don’t fall under the category of Mutants. How they will tie them in I don’t know, but it would be cool to see the X-men take on Dr Doom and Galactus from time to time. Look to see probably 3 Fantastic Four movies (if the first doesn’t flop) and hopefully a solo film for either Galactus of the Silver Surfer. If these characters ever reverted back to marvel I would assume Marvel would make 1 Fantastic four film and Maybe a Silver Surfer film. I don’t think they necessarily want to spend to much time with them if they have them, but it would of course complete their universe. Most people assume they only want them to have Galactus and Dr Doom, and I don’t blame them as both are ranked in the top 5 of IGN’s (not the most perfect list but I felt well done) list for top 100 comic book villains. However would be hard to have Galactus and Dr Doom without the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer. Hope the Reboot does well and if it doesn’t I would hope to see them join up with the Avengers Universe soon enough.

Next Up Sticking to the same area but looking at most of the Cosmic Universe.

I think Fox having their own cosmic universe would destroy whatever cosmic universe Marvel studios could create. The cosmic characters and story lines that Fox has in their position is much more dynamic and well developed than what Marvel Studios has in their arsenal.

@theoneaboveall Well given the fact that marvel is marvel I think they have just as good a shot. Fox has Galactus and the Silver surfer. They already botched them once. Marvel has Thanos, Nova Corps, Kree, Skrull. Even korvac and such. They are missing like 6 characters of their vast universe. Sure they are probably 6 of the most important, but then again thats what we said when they started building the universe in the first place without wolverine and spider-man.

Great article, But since they are rebooting the FF it would be a great way to introduce the Inhumans or Namor. They could also introduce a few of Galactus heralds such as Terrax and include the Silver surfer. There are directions they could go here. But I think they should slow down with the Good Doctor Doom and focus on other villains for this one

Tony Stark wishes he was as smart as Richards. Richards is by far the smartest hero his only rival would be Doom.

@Dough Inhumans and Namor owned by marvel.

@Dellam That's not confirmed. Joss said he didn't want to have to worry about the back story. Though you are probably correct.

Why don't they just come out and say who is owned by fox instead of leaving everyone guessing. I think 2015 after Avengers AoU will be the moment of truth. I think that's when people would be selling and such. The spider-man series is (assuming) ending. We will know essentially the rest of phase 3, also thats the film for some Easter eggs. Also DoFP will be a reboot so that's fox's chance at tying in (probably not), and we will find out if fantastic four is going to really get going or not.

Marvel really needs to buy the Fantastic Four back. I only would want maybe 1-2 films of them, but then they would have galactus and Dr Doom. Also silver surfer. And the skrulls if they don't already have them. Wammo they own everything except the mutants and a vigilante. Best part is Fox will be killing Magneto and Professor X soon enough. no way they are going to keep making films at their age. So that's a perfect time if marvel gets them back to continue the mutants against villains like Apocalypse in the marvel universe. Unless they reboot the franchise which will suck for every marvel character except the X-men.
