CATS: The New Trailer For Tom Hooper’s Musical Adaptation Is Even More Bonkers Than The First

The first trailer for Cats was one of the most widely discussed (and ridiculed) teasers we've seen in some time, and now we have a second look at Tom Hooper's adaptation of the popular Broadway musical...

Musical fantasy doesn't quite fall into the parameters of the type of stuff we usually cover on CBM, but there was so much hullabaloo online after the first trailer for Cats debuted a few months back that we had to share the new one here and see what you guys made of it.

Tom Hooper's adaptation of the classic West End musical uses state-of-the-art effects (apparently) to transform the likes of Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift and Rebel Wilson into humanoid felines, and the results are... well, have a look for yourselves.

To be fair, most of the characters don't look quite as freaky as they did in the first teaser (as long as you're okay with the overall design), but there are a few shots that call to mind that Basement Jaxx music video for "Where's Your Head At" with the human faces superimposed onto baboons.

We'd add a synopsis, but nobody seems to have a bloody clue what Cats is about!

What do you guys think? First in line this December? Drop us a comment below and check out a batch of official stills (if you dare) courtesy of EW.

@Scarilian @Chewtoy - And seeing how I've only seen the first trailer only ONE time in theaters along with this new one released half way through November a month-and-a-half before the flick is released along Rise of Skywalker, I think this is going to be...a box office smash of cats for the whole family!

Yikes. Not only cause of teh CGI, but th trailer itself is... so poorly made. Th sound mixing is off, the music doesn't lead into any sort of satisfying crescendo of any sorts...

[frick]ing disturbing. It could have wound up looking beautiful if they just made it an animated movie (traditional, 3D, stop motion, any would do).

Not gonna lie though, if Cheetah winds up looking like that in WW84, I can't really complain.

I've grown to be okay with the character style direction, but I'll still wait for the home video. I'm a sucker for musicals.

I'm still waiting for that Hamilton adaptation. Give it to me!
