Christophe Gans To Direct Adaptation Of BEAUTY & THE BEAST With Vincent Cassel & Lea Seydoux

The Silent Hill director will adapt one of the earliest versions of the classic fairy tale, with the mighty Vincent Cassel and Midnight In Paris' Lea Seydoux in the title roles..

Gans has also written the screenplay and will direct the French language version with a budget of around €33 million ($43.2 million). Silent Hill is generally considered to be among the best video game adaptations out there (not exactly difficult I know), and his genre mixing Brotherhood Of The Wolf, also with Cassel, is something of a flawed masterpiece imo.

Of course there have been numerous versions of this story already, from Disney's much loved animated feature to the recent travesty Beastly. Guillermo Del Toro is also said to be interested in directing his own take with Harry Potter's Emma Watson. There is another French version of the story out there too, the bizarre 1975 flick La bête (The Beast). There have been a few comic book adaptations too, including a limited series from Marvel with X-Men's Beast and Dazzler!

Gallic studio Pathe is taking French and U.K. distribution rights and Fox handles Pathe's theatrical, home entertainment and TV distribution in the U.K. Production is expected to begin Oct. 8.

Little Red Riding Hood, then Snow White, now Beauty and the Beast? What's next? Little Mermaid directed by Michael Bay starring Angelina Jolie and Jason Statham?

Oh man, the MassExecutions edited Brotherhood of the Wolf IS a masterpiece! I drops a lot of that weird french political intrigue stuff and keeps all the martial arts and monsters!

(The MassExecutions edited version of Ang Lee's The Hulk is pretty good too.)

Morty, get a grip, Seriously. You're making mountains out of molehills again. All I'm saying is to calm down on em, not stop posting altogether. It just becomes overkill and people get annoyed by them..or do you think I'm the only one?

There is a reason why there are so many Fairy tale/movie adaptations....PEOPLE LIKE THEM!

They do well, so why not make more?

They are usually good as well!

I can't wait for this!
I hope they go very dark with it...Lea is sexy! I love her as an actress!
