The most legendary Barbarian of all time is back this Summer. Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination - in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds- Conan's exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal 3D action-adventure film. A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

Conan The Barbarian stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ron Perlman, and will be released on August 19, 2011.

Mamoa was bad ass in Game of Thrones, hopefully he can bring that to Conan and is this going to be R rated

Tom Ford is a designer. Didn't stop him from directing A SINGLE MAN and earning an oscar nomination. Baywatch was years ago. Ugh!

I'm feeling like this will be like Prince of Persia mixed with 300. But will perform at a level below POP at the box office. maybe it's because i'm out of the age range for the original...

Momoa looks exactly like the Marvel comics and Savage Sword of Conan version of Conan. Arnold didn't look or act ANYTHING like the real Conan from the original books and the later print stuff. Momoa is as close as you can get in that poster. I'm actually starting to look forward to this!

Rulk Give him a chance. He directed two movies so far and some music videos. He might be getting warm.

Conan was created in 1932. He's one of the cornerstones of sword and sorcery and a fantasy icon in general. So a Conan movie in the present is inevitably going to remind people of other fantasy films. But Conan was first.

Well, the trailer certainly looks like a film based on Howard...right down to the tagline (which, I'll admit, gave me a very faint sort of geeky heart palpitation).

I'm still not entirely sure I want to get my hopes up. Considering the director's batting average, it would be a miracle if the film was even as good as Arnold's, to say nothing of actually decent...ah, REH adaptations, you have hurt me before, and no, I shall not date your new sister unless she's got a damn fine approval rating from all the previous fellows you roped in.
