Rose McGowan Joins Conan Movie Cast

Variety reports that the 'Red Sonja' actress will be in the Conan reboot.

Nu Image/Millennium Films has completed the cast for "Conan," adding Rose McGowan. to the cast

Marcus Nispel began lensing Monday at Nu Boyana Studios, Nu Image's facility in Sofia, Bulgaria. The film will be released domestically by Lionsgate.

McGowan is to play an evil half-human/half-witch.

McGowan is also going to star in Nu Image/Millennium Films, Red Sonja set to film later this year.

Red Sonja is suppost to film later this year after shes had her arm therapy and when she finishes her training I imagen she wont do any sword fighting in this film but mabye after conan she'll film red sonja

I think the character description is a ruse. I think she is actually playing Red Sonya in Conan. If memory serves the comics are tied together. Her playing Red Sonya in her own movie and someone else in Conan would be like Shwatzenegger playing someone else in a Red Sonya movie. Oh, yeah...

but it could be a good lead into the Red Sonya movie to introduce the character in Conan. Kinda "avengeresque".

But the new Red Sonja story in an orign story it. it doesnt surprise me that rose is in this because the proudces of conan most of them are producing red sonja

it worked for Arnold..he played Conan and also played a role in Red Sonja....it's less confusing if Rose plays a villain in this...

Rose said she was contracted to play Red Sonja and she will hopefully be filming this year along with a few other projects I know Conan is filming this week or next week so im not sure if she will film Red Sonja next or if shell film The Bell Jar.

If some of you are wondering what happened to Rose's face, rumor has it that she was attending a convention in Canada where, CBMer, Shaman was said to be seen backing a ice cream truck into her face. A few witness say she was sitting cross-legged chewing on a frying pan at the time of the incident.

...I mean the evidence speaks for itself, just look at her face!

Seriously though, this is such a massive miscast for Red Sonja. Conan is hurtin' and I predict this thing limping out of theaters in two weeks.

Ror- LOL Yeah... i was actually warming up to the new Conan movie with Lang and Pearlman on board but now... uuuurrrrrgghhhhhh!!!!

She looks like the wicked witch of the east, west and down undah!!! I'm wondering if she'll be the bitch that Conan throws in the fire LOL :P The one in the first film totally gave me a raging boner when i was seven. Ah well... guess i'll always have the classics LOL

I always thought that Red Sonja and Conan lived in the same "universe". If she is playing a witch in Conan and later Red Sonja in her own movie, how would that work?

Red Sonja isn't in the original Conan stories by REH. She was created for the Marvel Comics version of Conan the Barbarian. Now, Red SonYa is indeed an REH character, but one who wields a pistol (probably matchlock). Sonya was just a supporting character in an historical fiction set in the 1500's.

The names you should be putting forward are Valeria and Bêlit, who are both warrior women who appear in two of the Conan stories by REH.

Argh, I hate when actors "double dip" and insist on playing more than one superhero/comic character, etc. Stick to one character or it will confuse fans and movie goers. I think Mc Gowan is playing a witch in Conan, then take on the Red Sonja role.. which are completely unrelated. I do hope they make Red Sonja, though. I love the original and they need someone big like Brigitte Nielson.

@Leee777: That Telfor guy is perfect for Conan. Too bad these big movie companies just do whatever they want anyways!

the original one sucked! brgitte is so ugly and rose is sexy! and shes good for the evil witch part, cause she played really sexy witch in charmed and shes good as the bad guy 2 so....i hope they make red sonja with rose as sonja!
