Daniel Radcliffe Interested In Playing The 'Hunchback' In FRANKENSTEIN

Apparently the Harry Potter actor is interested in playing the "lead role" of 'Hunchback' in Fox's planned adaptation of Mary Shelly's classic tale. The report also gives us a few hints of what to expect from Max Landis' script for the movie..

According to The Wrap, Harry Potter himself is interested in playing the "lead role of Hunchback" in Lucky Number Slevin director Paul McGuigan’s revisionist take on Frankenstein, which is currently in development at 20th Century Fox. They don't provide any more info on that, but do reveal a few tidbits about Chronicle scribe Max Landis' script. The fact that the Hunchback is described as the lead role is very interesting. They may just mean a lead role, however all signs point to this being a very different take on the story than we are used to, so who knows. The character is described as "pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing". Intrigued? You should be after this - the site also reveal that this will "put a sci-fi take on this classic story about a creature produced through a scientific experiment.". And here we were expecting a classic version! What do you guys make of this, and the potential casting of Radcliffe?

The hunchback is a lead in a Frankenstein movie? Not the monster or Dr. Frankenstein?

He's a good actor, so I guess I wouldn't mind.

Yeah, but at the same time I feel, like MarkJulian, because isn't it a little weird the hunchback the lead role? But oh well, guess I'll see how it turns out.

Is "the hunchback" (Igor?} even in the novel?

@Rowsdower No, he isn't. The hunchback assistant (or Igor or, if we're talking the Boris Karloff version, Fritz) was a character created for the movies. He never appeared in Mary Shelley's original story.

I've always like the idea of him as young Charles Xavier. Anyone else?

I think at this point Igor (or whatever they call him) has become so iconic it doesnt matter that he isn't in the novel.

I'm pretty sure he's interested in just about anything. Ever since Harry Potter ended, nobody really cares about him anymore. He's just trying his hardest to stay relevant :/

Oh wow! He's small and a little creepy looking... He's actually PERFECT to play Igor! They should give it to him!

He would be perfect with his tiny face and disproportionate baby arms

No. He is not a 'great' actor.

He is a below average actor.

Makes me wonder--will the hunchback's name be Igor or Fritz?

"lead role of Hunchback" in Lucky Number Slevin director Paul McGuigan’s revisionist take on Frankenstein'

Im confused by this statement. In this new take are you saying Igor is the lead character and not Frankenstein and not his monster???

No! You will play Harry Potter and that alone. End of story! The deal with the devil that you signed does not include revamping Frankenstein for the 100th time.

Well they have to make it their own of course, it's FOX! Its like its mentally and physically impossible to do anything true to the source material. .
