Magic, monsters, gods and madness reign throughout the palaces and pyramids of the Nile River Valley in this action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt. With the survival of mankind hanging in the balance, an unexpected hero takes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. With only a handful of heroic rebels opposing Set’s savage rule, Bek (Brenton Thwaites), a bold and defiant mortal, enlists the aid of powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against the evil overlord. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen take them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the spectacular final confrontation.

Gods of Egypt opens February 26th.

Cool is not the word I would use to describe this. Waste sounds better. I hope this flops simply because Hollywood should not be parroting this sort of whitewashed trash around.

I wonder what the budget was for this. Seems to be a lot of CGI for what seems like a D- flick.

White people playing white people is not the same as white people substituting what should be darker characters. It's like they didn't even try to make them look Egyptian.

Aside from a select few, seriously, [frick] you guys. While everybody is bowing to the blowhard that is Deadpool next month, I'll be the guy giving that humble hobo in the alley (this movie) some much deserved cash.

@Hellsboy, the Egyptian gods weren't real anyway, so who cares what their race was? Besides, not all Egyptians were black. Quit drinking the PC koolaid.

I see at least 4 "ethnic" humans on the poster so shut the [frick] up and don't watch it if you don't want to.
It's okay to have a black Annie and a black anything else. Or a female anything else. But white men? They're automatically the enemy and the guilty party. That about cover it?

Hollywood and entertainment in the U.S. does have a history of racism from as far back as the black minstrels. In Hollywood minorities weren't allowed to act in movies beyond maybe small non talking parts or at best given maybe a few lines. Any major or supporting part was given to white men even if the character was of another skin color. You really can't look at this movie in a vacuum because of the history Hollywood has created itself. You want a really simplified version of this go watch Cats Don't Dance an animated musical about a world where animals and people live together but the animals are treated as second class citizens. It is basically an allegory to Hollywood back in the 30's for minorities trying to make it. Again a really simple one that I would never say goes over everything but it does allow you at least a look into that world.

@davidcub,

You're so right.

White men are the guilty party.

Besides, the company responsible for this movie have already come out and apologized for their white washing of African gods.

No matter what, the movie looks like shit.

@Optimist18,

The Egyptians who created the Egyptian gods were black, numb nuts.
pesmerga44

@MexicanSuperman

Then you just don't get it. There is an historical precedent of racism in Hollywood that itself created of minorities being unfairly represented and all the roles no matter what being given to white actors for many years.
