The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

misterniceguy- i thought this year has been good,alot of people have, especially the fall season so far,i though IM3,STAR TREK,MOS,PACIFIC RIM,THE WOLVERINE were solid ,elysium was the one i had the most problems with,it was ok but it had problems on all fronts,people thought this year was gonna be last year ,got there expectations too high and then,,,well ,we know what happened,hopefully next year is great!!

GURILLAPUD, I assume that's alluding the hate Michael Bay gets for it? Well, the difference is that Jackson gives us proper characters, a story, good dialogue, and emotionally ties us the what's going on on screen..AND delivers some action.

Bay makes things explode while shoving his camera up Megan Fox's ass.

I wsih Thor 2 looked as good as The Hobbit 2.
Its kind embarrassing that the most memorable scene of the entire Thor trailer is Jane slapping Loki on the face "I like her".

misterniceguy@ where were you in 2009 and 2010? Those years were a lot worse. I haven't watched many movies this year, but I enjoyed most movies I watched such as wolverine and superman, iron man 3 was disappointing though. I still haven't seen star trek 2, ww z, etc...

The film needs to be more complex than the book. It has to to be brought up near the same tone as the LOTR films.

However, I still feel it strays farther than it should from the original story.

yea I am really happy with last 3 years(2011,2012 and 2013). I am not saying there weren't a lot of bad movies, but ifeel they making a lot more movies with the genre I like( action/scfi and cbm )
