Attack on Titan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The series began in September 2009. The story of Attack on Titan takes place in a world where the remnants of humanity live inside a series of connected cities, isolated by enormous walls. These walls exists to keep the Titans out, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. These Titans have reduced the world's population to staggeringly low numbers. The 3 main protagonists of Isayama's manga are Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Their lives are changed forever when a "Colossal Titan" breaches the wall protecting their town, leading to thee death of Eren's mother. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren, Mikasa and Armin join the Survey Corps, an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls.

The show centers around a universe where massive humanoid creatures eat human beings. Because of this, the people fortified themselves into a massive citadel that is broken up into sections. It served as a barrier to protect them from the monsters, or "titans". But a unique titan that was much larger than the wall broke through it, opening this massive hole in the structure, allowing other titans to flood through and slaughter many people.

The show follows Eren Yeager whose mother was killed by one of the titans who got into the citadel. He joins the military which outfits the standard soldier is with a 3D maneuvering contraption that has grapnel hooks connected to it so the user can traverse massive portions of land (given there are structures to latch onto). He then finds out he has an ability to inflict harm on himself, and turn into a powerful titan that he can control. So, he uses that ability to fight back and try to clear all of the titans out of the citadel.

And I'd tell you about season 2 (that will be released soon), but that'd just spoil everything.

The first episode of the season is a little horrifying. But everything after that just feels like an action series with an edge to it.

Hell Yeah! Looks real good. They are stepping up on the Manga/Anime adaptions lately, with Rurouni Kenshin being the greatest Manga/Anime trilogy to date. I put Rurouni Kenshin in my top 5 CBMs.

The special effects look better than I thought it would, but they still need to step it up. Other than the half decent CGI, everything else looks pretty good.

Still more hyped for the U.S version.

@SpiderFraud Cautiously optimistic, even if the show literally has a rare number of Japanese characters. Gotta be in the Snowpiercer ballpark for my interest to be piqued.
