Variety is reporting that British actor Callum Turner has joined the cast of Warner Bros.' Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel as Newt Scamander's brother.

Turner joins a cast headlined by Academy Award-winner Eddie Redmayne, who will return as Scamander. 3x Academy Award-nominee Johnny Depp will return in a much larger role as the infamous Gellert Grindelwald while 2x Academy Award nominated actor Jude Law will join the franchise as his friend-turned-rival Albus Dumbledore. Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and Zoë Kravitz are all also expected to reprise their roles from the first film.

David Yates is returning to direct with a script from Harry Potter mastermind J.K. Rowling
Plot details remain under lock-and-key, but we do know that the story will take place during the spring and summer of 1928 in Paris, France, and Great Britain.

Production is expected to begin this summer.

Turner is best known to audiences for his film roles in Queen and Country, Green Room, Victor Frankenstein, Tramps, and Assassin's Creed.

The first one was disappointing...

I hope the sequel will be better, I'm a big fan of Harry Potter and JK Rowling.

@RagnarGolem - I enjoyed it but was disapointed. I feel it was more of a test film to see if wizarding films could profit from not having direct connections with the Harry Potter series.
Im really glad they are exploring the Girnderwald Dumbldore war for the following films.

Knowing that he's playing "Thesius Scamander" now... Brother of the main character played by an Oscar-winning actor. Described as "War Hero".... This is a bit under-whelming.

But I assume he's a good actor... HE WAS IN GREEN ROOM!!!

I haven't seen Green Room but three of my favorite actors were in Green Room, so...

@Quicker - he didn't stick out in Green Room. He was okay.

@Quicker - My main concern is that he's 8 years younger than Redmayne, and is supposed to play his older brother? What's that about?
