Early tracking for several big-budget May releases was revealed this morning and while some studios received good news (e.g. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), others like Warner Bros.' King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, found themselves on the opposite side of the spectrum.

The Guy Ritchie-directed adventure, which reportedly cost around $102 million to make, is currently projected to open in the high-teens, possibly early-20s, next weekend in the United States, with a potential high of $23 million through three days. Not exactly an ideal start for the potential franchise-starter, which stars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) as the titular king.

Last week's preview screenings were met with a relatively warm reception, so there's always a possibility the film exceeds expectations and finds an audience, but it'll certainly be an uphill battle as it'll face some heavy competition from the second week of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

A ton of new TV spots and featurettes have been released, check them out below:

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne.

When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

@ODanil - I saw an early screening. I really enjoyed it. A solid fantasy movie with armor and magic. Good magic, druids controlling nature and summoning beasts and stuff. Excalibur really makes the King a force to be reckoned with. They had a neat twist on how the sword gets in the stone I thought was clever.
I'm down for seeing a sequel or 3.

I saw it already. The part where me and the lady I met on Craigslist get thrown out of the theater for indecent exposure was awful.

I'll go see it mostly because I really like Guy Ritchie movies.

@RevanOfKrypton - It is every bit a Guy Ritchie movie. Fast talking, fast cutting, super English.
