Let's be honest, Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters looks like a cheap knockoff of Harry Potter. Percy, Grover and Annabeth could all be swapped out for Harry, Ron and Hermione, and nobody would be able to tell the difference. Am I right?

Percy Jackson has had an unnervingly quiet school year. But then he discovers that the magical borders protecting Half Blood Hill are failing. Unless something is done, the camp will be attacked by demons and monsters. The only way to restore power to the camp's borders and to save their home is to find the mythical Golden Fleece. And the only who can undertake this dangerous quest are Percy and his friends. Embarking on a treacherous odyssey into the uncharted waters of the Sea of Monsters (known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle), they battle terrifying creatures, an army of zombies, and the ultimate Evil.


Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters (2013) directed by Thor Freudenthal, from a screenplay written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. The cast includes: Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Abel, Brandon T. Jackson, Douglas Smith, Leven Rambin, Nathan Fillion, and the always stellar, Stanley Tucci. The film swims into theaters August 7th, 2013!

Ok, as a die-hard beloved Percy Jackson fan, I....ok yes, it is very Harry Potter-ish, (they even make a reference to it in the books. Yes Annabeth is the smart girl, and Grover the helpful friend, but Percy is a different sort of character than Harry.

Of course as I said earlier I'm a die-hard Half-Blood....so....take that however you want to.

Harry Potter is of higher quality than this series, which is a shame because I like Greek myth more than European witchcraft. Also, the first Percy Jackson movie was pretty bad, but X3 was far worse.

The first movie was a let down and the second one does not look promising but at least we have the books. On another thing, Percy Jackson isn't quite like Harry Potter. He's more unpredictable. Annabeth Chase is similar to Hermione because their both smart but Annabeth has more fight in her and Grover is like Ron but with less fight in him.
