Unlike It, which has been absolutely tearing up the worldwide box office these past few weeks, The Dark Tower - this past summer's other Stephen King adaptation - failed to strike a chord with critics and audiences alike. At the time of this posting, the Nikolaj Arcel-directed feature has grossed just over $50 million domestic and $59.9 million international for a worldwide sum of $109.9 million on a $60 million production budget.

With its box office run coming to a close, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that the film will arrive on Digital HD on October 17 before making its way to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and Digital HD on October 31.

They've also revealed the full set of special features, which include five extensive behind-the-scenes featurettes. Check them out below:

Special Features:
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Blooper Reel
  • A Look Through the Keyhole
  • Five Featurettes
    • "Last Time Around"
    • "The World Has Moved On…"

    • "The Gunslinger in Action"
    • "Stephen King Inspirations"
4K Blu-ray Technical Specs:
  • Dolby Vision enabled presentation of the film
  • Dolby Atmos English Audio track

Sony screwed up again...

I am looking forward to HC's Blu-ray thanks to Marvel Studios though.

@knocturnalzen10 - I liked it for what it was, but as a huge fan of the books it was definitely disappointing.

@BigDriggs - Agreed. I've read the books probably five or six times. I get what they were going for ("sequel?"), but it was just...disappointing. Some cool scenes, and I wouldn't mind a Part 2 to see where they would take it next. Eddie? Susannah? My favorite character, freaking OY?! But this was just lackluster.

This actually wasn't a bad movie. An unoriginal narrative, sure, but not bad. It's just interesting that this complex interconnected world was just not really all that fleshed out.

@narrow290 - I liked it for what it was definitely. And there were a ton of Easter eggs from the novels scattered throughout. I really hope the TV series is successful and maybe the Blu Ray sales too so they greenlight sequels. I'm a tower junkie and I need to know what happens next!

@BigDriggs - fingers crossed Blu Ray sales are enough!! the movie to me, was the ending the book should've had!

This movie may have been more terrible, formulaic hack-work from Akiva Goldsman... but I'm still gonna buy it anyway. As a huge fan of the books, I can't help but look at the few things they got RIGHT: the score is fantastic, and Idris Elba makes a pretty great Gunslinger.

Yeah, it sucks, but I own worse.

@TheFox - Elba was great as the Gunslinger and it had the feel of the books i think

Still really want to see this. Read the first book and want to continue ASAP, but it seems this is kind of its own thing? With Elba and McConaughey, i'm sure I will be at the very least, entertained.

Elba deserves a big break for a leading role in movies...was hoping this would be it and a new franchise :/

@Menks123 - it's nothing like the books. Watch the movie, then do the books that way you won't be disappointed and have no preconceived notions.
