In an interview with
The Hollywood Reporter, NBC Universal Studios president and COO Ron Meyer has commented on what the studio have planned for the future, revealing some very intriguing information about a
Snow White and the Huntsman spin-off. Admitting that they have no comic book franchises to develop movies from, Meyer said it is important for Universal to develop new franchises of their own (the advantages of which include brand recognition, cheaper marketing costs and bigger numbers at the box office).
However, Universal do already have the
Bourne and
Fast & Furious franchises as well as a planned reboot of
The Mummy and this weeks
Battleship. One of their newest endeavours is the upcoming
Snow White and the Huntsman. While Meyer reveals that the movie doesn't exactly lend itself to a sequel, the studio are keen on giving the Huntsman (
Thor and
Marvel's The Avengers star Chris Hemsworth) his own spin-off if it's a success. It seems as if playing the God of Thunder isn't all the Australian actor will have on his plate over the next few years.
