In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, NBC Universal Studios president and COO Ron Meyer has commented on what the studio have planned for the future, revealing some very intriguing information about a Snow White and the Huntsman spin-off. Admitting that they have no comic book franchises to develop movies from, Meyer said it is important for Universal to develop new franchises of their own (the advantages of which include brand recognition, cheaper marketing costs and bigger numbers at the box office).

However, Universal do already have the Bourne and Fast & Furious franchises as well as a planned reboot of The Mummy and this weeks Battleship. One of their newest endeavours is the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman. While Meyer reveals that the movie doesn't exactly lend itself to a sequel, the studio are keen on giving the Huntsman (Thor and Marvel's The Avengers star Chris Hemsworth) his own spin-off if it's a success. It seems as if playing the God of Thunder isn't all the Australian actor will have on his plate over the next few years.

STARRING:

Kristen Stewart as Snow White
Chris Hemsworth as Eric, the Huntsman
Charlize Theron as Queen Ravenna
Sam Claflin as Prince William
Lily Cole as Greta

RELEASE DATE: June 1st, 2012.

He and the overall Guillermo del Toro esque feeling of the film trailer - is the reason I will see it anyway.

Hemsworth is getting into the "women love him, men want to be him" category really fast.

Someday soon we will be faced with a weekend were we have to decided if we're going to go see a movie where Hemsworth has an ax, or a movie where Hemsworth has a hammer...or a movie with his brother in it.

As long as it doesn't include Kristen Stewart I'm fine with it.

He deserves all this success. This guy is a great actor and the scary part is that, he's only beginning.

Not bad. It would probably be a prequel. His life before he met the Evil Queen or Snow White. Hopefully it wouldn't get in the way if he is offered He-Man. Yeah I said it...I think that he would be the best option for He-Man. The difference to set him apart from Prince Adam could be that when he says "I have the POWER" and becomes He-Man is that he could have a bronze complexion. I think that they could easily do that with spray tans. Just an idea

I like this, the movie actually looks pretty good, and Hemsworth looks amazing. Could turn out to be a great movie, and an interesting character for a well though out franchise

How owns the rights to Flash Gordon?
I would love to see that on the big screen. It would make a great franchise and Chris would be perfect Flash.

Christian "American Psycho" Bale would make a great Ming.
