Released February 16 2007, the original Ghost Rider film earned $228.7 million worldwide. And now according to SuperHeroHype, an official release date for the duo Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor-directed sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengence, has been set for the CBM-packed year of 2012.

"Sony's Columbia Pictures has set a February 17, 2012 release date for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance"

And on the Spirit Of Vengence's story, theres an elusive script review HERE; Where Johnny Blaze will be an voluntary exile, who believes that not having contact with people, will cause the spirit of vengeance not to emerge. And with numerous characters in the middle of the story, villains Mephisto with the human name Roarke, and Carrigan are searching for our Brimstone Biker.

With Nicolas Cage reprising his role as the daring Johnny Blaze, apparently the sequel has already began shooting in Bucharest, Romania. And being released in both 3D and 2D theaters February 2012, which much-anticipated CBMs The Avengers, Batman 3, and the Spider-Man, Superman & Fantastic Four reboots all have release of the same year.

I read the Ghost Rider tie-in to "Shadowland" today (with stunning art by Clayton Crain) and it reminded me just how much I love this character. I just hope it's not as poorly done as the first one although to be fair, they did nail the look of Ghost Rider and Nic Cage really wasnt that bad. Good stuff DCMF! :)

If 2012 is the end of the world, we're all going to die happy. All of our heroes in one year? Can't beat that. Well... Only if they hand out some fruit rollups with every ticket purchase. Then it'll be even better.
MercMatt
MercMatt - 9/17/2010, 2:50 PM
@ Bman: I think you just beat out my idea. How about this tho??? For every ticket purchased, you get the PB Bunny, covered in fruit rollups, and..... ready for it??? They have to sit next to us while we eat the fruit rollups pff of them until they're fully naked. Also, thay can't slap us for being all touchy/feely. Well... Maybe some slapping. That does feel pretty good.

After recent news from Disney, they could easily start production on Iron Fist and add another film to 2012.Same goes for Dr. Strange.

The first one wasn't so bad, in my opinion, so I'll give the second one a chance. Neveldine and Taylor are still on this right? I think they'll do some crazy, pump, fast, acid movie.

"i dont Dr Strange will be 2012 most likely 2013 after the Avengers."

Maybe, but this is one of the films Disney is producing/distributing.It's not under the deal with Paramount, so they could go ahead with it next year.

Well I not giving my money to [frick]ing SONY to that!
I´m gonna wait a torrent :)
Nic Cage makes me laugh in any role as I said before, and as a superhero makes me sick.
btw 2012 will be the greatest comic book movies year ever, not in quality, because most will prolly suck, but in quantity.

"You can now mark your calenders with the official release of the upcoming Ghost Rider sequel, in the bundled Comic Book Movie year of 2012"

I can now mark my calendar for a day with which I am going to watch paint dry and my grass grow which will be more exciting than watching Nic Cage ruin a great CBM AGAIN. This is like re-electing Bush...everyone's wondering WTF happened...

So the world is going to end because of the overload of comic book movies coming out in 2012, I knew it

And Ghost Rider will probably more than likely suck, I will wait for the eventual reboot from Marvel Studios in a few years

Do people forget that "supposedly" the world is supposed to end Dec. 21st, that would be a good 4 days before the release of the new Superman movie. Sadly this means we would not die happy.
