First off I've got some great news for all you
G.I. Joe fans. Director Jon M. Chu just tweeted that the Super Bowl ad for the film will be shown early on
Entertainment Tonight this very evening. Make sure you tune in!
As for Channing Tatum, he is one of the few cast members of the last effort that will be back for the sequel. But, in the trailer his character Captain Duke Hauser appears to be killed off in a Cobra sneak attack. The Rock who plays Roadblock says that he and only two other members are all that is left of the team. I'm sure we won't know Duke's outcome til the movie is released, but it's fun watching Channing trying to dodge the question as best he can.
The funny thing is that he says in the MTV interview that he hasn't seen much of Chu's version, yet he already thinks it will be better than the last one. Nothing better than watching an actor throw his last outing under the bus.
"I don't know. I think they're going to have to check it out," he said. "I think that the movie is going to be better than the first one. I think that Jon Chu has a younger, hipper sensibility. ['Rise of Cobra' director] Stephen Sommers is great, I really enjoyed working with him, but I think this movie is going to be a little hipper. A little bit more edgy."
Should we prep for seeing a lot of Duke screen time?
"I don't know," Tatum said with a smile, beginning to see where I was going with my line of questioning. "I'm not sure. I haven't seen the final cut."
DO YOU THINK DUKE DIES?
G.I. Joe Retaliation stars Channing Tatum, D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and will be released on June 29, 2012.
