Director:Jon Chu
Best known for directing Step Up 2 and 3 and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Not very inspiring body of work, but he may do well. He seems to know that change is definitely needed from the last one, so we'll see.
Screenwriters: Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick
They have been hired to write the sequel, along with quite a few other projects such as Deadpool and Venom. They also wrote the brilliant Zombieland script, so at least the sequel has talented writers.
Returning Cast:
Channing Tatum as Duke
I personally hated his performance in G.I. Joe, but many sources have said that he is a good bet to return. Hopefully a better script will help him out.
Ray Park as Snake Eyes
Snake Eyes has always been mu favorite character, and a G.I. Joe movie without him wouldn't be the same. And it has been stated before that he is one of the three actors set to return, and I couldn't be happier with the news.
Lee Byung-hun as Storm Shadow
He has been excited to return and has been confirmed multiple times to return. I find that odd since his character was one of the few that actually died, but at least we will see more ninja action between him and Snake Eyes.
New Cast Members:
Stephen Martines as Cross-Country
Martines is mostly a veteran of television, with a recent role on the Vampire Diaries as Frederick. The character Cross-Country is the team's H.A.V.O.C. driver. This news first debuted on IMDb, so this is subject to change since IMDb is not the most reliable of sites,
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Roadblock
He is probably going to be the main focus for the success of the sequel. He is currently "in talks" for the part, and is extremely likely to become the cast member, since he has hinted at his involvement on his Twitter page. Johnson was awesome in Fast Five, and would own Roadblock. Roadblock is the main gunner for the squad and dabbles in cooking as well.
Elodie Yung as Jinx
She is a relatively new actress, is French, and is in talks to join the cast, Her character Jinx is a ninja, and has appeared as a prodigy of Snake Eyes. SHe brings the much needed girl power to the movie, and should serve well to the team.
Release Date: August 10th, 2012
So there you have it. Only other details is that Lorenzo di Bonaventura is returning as producer, and should be a big movie for next year. Here's hoping that it is going to be good.
