MY Opinion
I think a large majority of G.I Joe fans will agree that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was a CBM film most didn’t expect to fail, but fail it did with it’s over the top budget and cameo cast.
Stephen Sommers killed the franchise by trying to make the film like his past projects The Mummy, Van Helsing, and Deep Rising, and hiring his buddy’s from past films like Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Arnold Vosloo (Zartan), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), and the worst Brendan Fraser (Gung Ho). But all this did was make this a popcorn film that had all the Hollywood trimmings, but no substance.
Chu might have a chance to save the franchise by going with less CGI and MEGA star names, and more Substance in character/ Actors, Story development, mature content, and bad ass action, in short making the film similar to G.I. Joe: Resolute. I for one wish him luck and hope for his success.
And for those of you who don’t know what G.I. Joe: Resolute is here is an example:

i want the real GI Joe. real AMERICAN heroes. GI Joe wasn't the united nations it was American soldiers.

i wish they would recast Duke.

bring back Scarlet, because she, and Snake Eyes were the only 2 that casting got right.

Not going to watch it if the only characters who are returning are Duke, Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow. I mean those guys are cool but we need Scarlett, Gung Ho and Hawk too. The actors of those characters i dont give a shit about so they should just recast! Rachel Nichols is the only one i dig!... From deep!:P

The fact is the three cast members they have coming back are good. The entire cartoon series revolved around who they put around Duke and Snake Eyes, so I agree add guys like Hawk, Gun-Ho, Roadblock and we have a film.

Rachel Nichols is hot but there are plenty of girls to replace her in the world.

I hate seeing people play the same character in every movie. Terry Crews is already in Expendables. Isn’t there any other big muscle black actors who are bad a$$ in Hollywood, or did he corner the market?

Brendan Fraser was Sgt. Stone, not Gung-Ho which means that character didn't get screwed up and can be introduced in the next film without having to be fixed.

The only ones I care to see return are Parks as Snake-Eyes. Just fix the rubber suit with lips. Nichols as Scarlett and Vosloo as Zartan. I also liked Dennis Quaid as Hawk. Recast everyone else or introduce some of the other characters. I personally would love to see Flint, Lady Jaye, Tomax, Xamot and the Crimson Guard.

I know Channing Tatum is returning which means the studio doesn't get why the first one didn't do so good. He was the worst actor in the first film and just a shitty actor overall.
