MY Opinion
I think a large majority of G.I Joe fans will agree that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was a CBM film most didn’t expect to fail, but fail it did with it’s over the top budget and cameo cast.
Stephen Sommers killed the franchise by trying to make the film like his past projects The Mummy, Van Helsing, and Deep Rising, and hiring his buddy’s from past films like Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Arnold Vosloo (Zartan), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), and the worst Brendan Fraser (Gung Ho). But all this did was make this a popcorn film that had all the Hollywood trimmings, but no substance.
Chu might have a chance to save the franchise by going with less CGI and MEGA star names, and more Substance in character/ Actors, Story development, mature content, and bad ass action, in short making the film similar to G.I. Joe: Resolute. I for one wish him luck and hope for his success.
And for those of you who don’t know what G.I. Joe: Resolute is here is an example:
What do you think?
