Columbia has just announced in a press release the start of production on The Green Hornet. In the press release it was also revealed that Wilkinson and Harbour are joining the cast. Another bit of good news is that Edward James Olomus has been confirmed and that Nicholas Cage is still in negotiations(so maybe he won't be in it ;) lol)

Wilkinson worked with Gondry on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. There is still no word on what characters they'll be playing, but if their in it its gotta be in good parts. Read the full press release below.

CULVER CITY, Calif., September 2, 2009 - A classic character of film, television, radio and comic books returns to the big screen in Columbia Pictures’ feature film The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen (Superbad, Knocked Up) as the vigilante crime-fighter. Production is underway on the Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) helmed film, which is produced by Neal H. Moritz (I Am Legend, The Fast and the Furious) and executive produced by Michael Grillo (The Accidental Tourist), Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (Superbad, Pineapple Express), Ori Marmur (Evan Almighty) and George W. Trendle, Jr. The screenplay is by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, based upon “The Green Hornet” radio series created by George W. Trendle and shoots entirely in Los Angeles. The film is set for release December 17, 2010.

Olomus and Horbour will be joining Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, Edward James Olomus, and possibly Nicholas Cage.

This movie sounds like it could actually be good with all the big name actors. It sucks that it's delayed but at least it looks like its kind of movie forward. So what do you think? Are these good cast additions? Will this movie be successful? Will Seth Rogen just ruin the whole comic for everybody? Discuss it all below.

I only liked GH for Bruce, and I'm not the biggest Rogen fan. He's funny but not that funny to spend money on. I was going for Stepehn Chow really, but since he's no longer part of the project I might not.

Tom Wilkinson was awesome in Batman Begins, so this news is great. Mark my words, this movie will kick ass.

I think your opening summary is a bit misleading. As you know, only the release date has been delayed. The actual production has not been. They just postponed the actual release date to give it an ideal spot at the box office.
