Martin Campbell's comic adaptation,
Green Lantern, is rapidly approaching the end of principal photography; which is scheduled to culminate around mid-August.
The Hollywood Reporter has released word that Bassett concluded her time on the
Green Lantern movie set, where she is portraying the character of Dr. Amanda Waller. Bassett is the third actress to represent the character in recent media, behind CCH Pounder (DC Animated Universe) and Pam Grier (
Smallville). In DC Comics mythology, Waller is the head of the clandestine, investigative organization Checkmate; though that relation has yet to be confirmed for the movie. Waller could possibly be involved with the Department of Extranormal Operations, since two movie cast members have been identified as agents for that specific agency.

Green Lantern fans who have managed to get their hands on Greg Berlanti's first draft script have surmised that Bassett/Waller's role in the film replaced the character of "Pipe." In this script, Pipe works for a government agency that is investigating the supernatural occurrences taking place throughout the film. Pipe is actually Alan Scott, the first DC Comics hero to bear the superhero name Green Lantern. Also in the script, Scott's ring is not magical in origin but a lost Green Lantern Corp ring that he found in his youth.
Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character, Mark Strong, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Temuera Morrison and Tim Robbins. It is scheduled for theatrical release June 17th, 2011.
