Cartoon Network Will Have Green Lantern Animated Series

Another announcement from Time Warner's investor day.

Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of Time Warner's Turner Networks unit, announced Green Lantern: The Animated Series will be a part of Cartoon Network's original programming.

Picture from full length feature 'Green Lantern: First Flight' (not the new series)

From HeatVision:
"Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry Meyer later in the day mentioned this as an example of increasing collaboration and coordination between his unit and Turner. He said the Cartoon Network show is based on the DC Comics character and Warner's "Green Lantern" movie, scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release."

It will be some time before we actually see this though as the series will not appear until the second year after the film release.

DC may screw up a lot of in terms of the silver screen, but most of their animated series rocked!

Nice find D.O.W,
I saw one of DC's animated films for the first time, so I think I may enjoy this series.

Hmm, Marvel is doing the opposite. They're supposed to be releasing Thor series before the movie, to introduce the character to minors. I suppose.

Also DOG. you might want to correct the title bro.

Also I hope they start over and forget about first flight. I only liked the first half of that movie. No flying Central Power Batteries and must have yellow impurity at first also they must charge their rings. Also at some point Hal must fly into the Central Power Batterey like emerald dawn.

@Grif I am sure Green Arrow and The Flash will show at some point.

I dont usually watch these animated TV shows/movies but I was going to say that it'll be a useful way to get some background on Green Lantern before the movie (as I only read Marvel and know bugger all about the character, lol!) until I kept reading and saw it wont be released until after that comes out. In that case, sod it. ;D

This is good news, provided they find the right people to write it and produce it. This could provide a nice companion show to the beyond-awesome Brave & the Bold.

tea: LMAO!!! :D

As a kid in the 90's, I'll never forget getting up on Saturday mornings and watching the Iron Man, X-Men and Hulk animated series before Live & Kicking! However, it was Fox's Spider-Man series that really sticks with me - it was there that my love for the character began and my obsession with comic books would start..!

As much as I love GL (and that's a LOT) I really think they should do a Green Lantern Corps show instead. I think it would be great to have some of the lesser known characters introduced better, and it would probably have better storylines than if they just focused on Hal Jordan.
