Just came back from the movie, I seriously don't know what movie you guys saw. This was fun, light, entertaining, and Ryan Reynolds was great in it. Granted, I am not a GL fan, know almost nothing about this other than having seen First Flight and I thought that was a better overall film, but this movie was not bad. I have seen all kinds of BS over the past few days about how this "is the worst CBM evar" and it is just insane. I heard a lot of people walking out of the theater saying "that wasn't bad, I wonder what everyone on the net was bitchin about"

A SIMPLE "BLAST".

PRACTICAL FIGHTING.

A FRIGHTENING VILLAIN, THE GYPSY.

I LIKED THAT SCENE ALOT, LMFAO.

THOR WAS NOT AS GREAT AS SOME MAKE IT OUT TO BE.

GREEN LANTERN'S SPACE SCENES WERE EPIC!

EARTHBOUND, NOT SO MUCH.

TOTALLY WORTH MY MONEY.

the space scenes are good,but not enough of them which makes the film average at best.

GL is a good movie- not without flaws but a decent solid B, the story was linear, the characterisations were solid if broad, the action was good, the end fight with parallax could've been longer, but I was surprised by and appreciated all the situational humor[when Hal shows his friend the ring, when Carol confronts hal about GL] and I loved that it wasn't Reynolds usual quippy BS.

As for other CBMs:
Thor was a little better- A-, Iron Man 1-A+, Iron Man 2 C+, Hulk 1- B but it was depressing as shit, Hulk 2- B better action scenes but the lead didn't fit at all.

IMO- the best CBMs have had a good story and good action- my personal favorites are Blade 1, Spiderman 2, XMen 1.

Anyways, IMO GL was decent- I'm gonna go see it again this weekend with friends who dropped out this last time because of all the hyperbolic bullshit on the net.

Just watched it yesterday. I think the negative reviews that it got from the critics was totally undeserving. It's not as bad as they make it out to be.

Is it a great CBM? No, it's not and it does have its flaws. But it was still entertaining and my girlfriend and friends, who knew nothing about it, had a blast. I actually thought RR did a good job here, despite all the narrow minded viewpoints people may have on here. He's an actor and he gave a great performance. Mark Strong and Sarsgaard were also splendid.

It was as solid as Thor IMO. Both good, but not great. First Class beats both though - man, who knew Fox would be leading the bunch? It's a bizarro world for sure.

@ Helacaster- I guess you hav'nt seen many CBM. The worst one without a doubt is Batman and Robin (The Bat ice skates and visa card is complete $hit) Oh and the GL Hotwheels helicopter suck major donky balls.

I was watching this at the time and Reynolds seemed a bit off for some reason. I thought he looked pissed when Conan showed the fake trailer but maybe he was messing around. I don't know but the whole interview was really weird.

I think thats the key to the movie- if you aren't a rabid GL fan you'll see it as a decent fun summer flick, if you're a rabid fan you'll bitch about Parallax having a different origin or Kilowog not getting enough screen time.

My friends and I are not GL fanboys, we just went to see a CBM and we enjoyed ourselves, it was good, the kids liked the 3D ring effects, I liked the humor. I wasn't expecting shakespeare and i had a pleasant time.

But as far as grading goes- you're right, Xmen First Class is the better film, not as much fun mind you, but a classier product. Thor was fun too, and I liked the acting by the Odin boys- that elevated that movie IMO over GL. But GL is a decent popcorn flick I could see multiple times.

I agree totally with Indestruktible's assessment above. GL and Thor rated about the same with me and my wife, and we liked both of them. We're puzzled by the negativity thrown at this film. Not the best CBM ever, and not a game-changer, but solid. It deserves a sequel.

No way in the world this green garbage of a movie was better than thor. It was absolutely awful. THe actors was pretty good but the script and editing was just so , so Awful.

Actually, the first half the movie is really good. It drops the ball in the second half, sadly. I still enjoyed it. It's average at best. But nowhere near as bad as some of you guys make it out to be, IMO.

Thor is better, so is First Class. But I still enjoyed GL.

And this clip was hilarious. I saw it whenever it aired. Funny stuff.
