Not long after the awesome 4 minute preview shown at WonderCon, UK fans will have the chance to see even more new footage from Martin Campbell's Green Lantern at Kapow! this weekend. As well as the premier of the latest DC/WB animated feature, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights..

“Just when you thought Kapow! couldn’t get any hotter, the Green Lantern footage gets announced. The UK premiere of Emerald Knights, plus footage from the Green Lantern film never before seen in the UK is certainly
something that will make the weekend, if not the year, for all Green Lantern fans.

Kapow! which is bringing the US Comic Convention experience to London is taking place at the Business Design Centre in Islington over the weekend of 9th & 10th April. This is one event that will leave all attendees counting down the days to Kapow! 2012. Tickets are only available in advance, and can’t be purchased on the door www.kapowcomiccon.com

Emerald Knights, which features six interwoven stories including some of Green Lantern’s greatest characters, is only available in the UK on 7th June 2011 on Blu-Ray so this is a real exclusive to shout about. In addition to this UK premiere, Kapow! will also be showing UK exclusive unseen footage from the upcoming blockbuster Green Lantern. This is footage you simply cannot miss!

Green Lantern, starring Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) in the title role and Blake Lively (The Town, Gossip Girl) and directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) will be released in cinemas nationwide in both 2D
and 3D on June 17th. In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.”

Josh will be there to relay the sights and sounds from Kapow! to us. And with any luck, the footage wont be long about making it online just like WonderCon.

I am really looking forward to Kapow this weekend, going to be awesome! (GF isnt as quite as excited as me though :P)

I did read in the original press release for the green lantern stuff that it said UK exclusive footage, but tbh im thinking its going to be a repeat of wondercon. The only real interesting bit here is that i *think* that the secret "Movie X" that is showing on the sunday is going to be Thor.

In the description on the timetable it says the only hint is that he wears a cape and has a funny name, that says either Thor or Magneto, but seeing as Magneto isnt the name of the movie i would go to say its pretty certain its Thor, not to mention the fact that the cast themselves will be at the event!

If anyone is going to Kapow, lookout for the guy in the GL t shirt (most likely) with the slightly depressed/bored looking girlfriend following with my bag of goodies :D

I don't see how it will make GL fans years considering the film itself is out soon...

@SuperArgo
So first people complain that there isn't enough marketing, and then when marketing comes out you complain they're "desperate"? Would you prefer that they just not market the movie at all?

SuperArgo has an agenda! ignore.. or he's getting pissed that GL actually looks good..

SuperArgo

Do your homework before deciding to comment.

Warner have said that the lack of marketing was due to most of the material not being ready and have also apologised for the quality and tone of the first trailer.

It can be argued that cgi has never before been done with such a varied scope. To show it prematurely as they did with the first trailer is probably as bad as showing nothing at all.

Warner know that all DC projects following this rely on the success of green lantern they are by no means treating it like a 'stepchild'.

@SuperArgo - This is a different strategy. Do you want to know how "Star Wars: A New Hope" made it so big? It was the buzz that it got at the conventions. That buzz took off and spread all over to make that film the largest grossing picture of 1977 ("Close Encounters of the Third Kind" came in second but wasn't even close in box office revenue). The same thing is happening here. The buzz is being started at the conventions and migrating out to the public from there. If this works out the way I think it will, you will be seeing folks camping out in front of theaters days in advance to see this flick. Why should they do it this way, you might ask? Because "Green Lantern" (in addition to being a comic-book film) is space based science fiction (not unlike the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises). The convention circuit has been good to that genre (it basically kept Star Trek alive until it became a film franchise) and it should do the same for Green Lantern. I wouldn't be surprised if out of the success of this film, the franchise would have it's own annual conventions as a result.

I still cannot believe how nuch better Thor looks than GL. And I like GLs Hal but Reynolds is the Wally West Flash more than Hal. And the GL looks so Xbox it is not even funny

Should be fun, but I'm still pissed the Dexter panel isn't going.
And Frankie Boyle, one of the best comedians outta the UK isn't going anymore.
And no word on the Dredd footage that was supposedly being shown.

@ZeroEthic

I was just about to buy a ticket now I'm not so sure.
