Green Lantern A Trilogy?

Green Lantern A Trilogy?

Movie blog Celluloid and Cigarette Burns claims Campbell has confirmed a trilogy of movies for Green Lantern.

Green Lantern Director Martin Cambell has confirmed we will be seeing a trilogy. He says that the first film will be filled with the origins of both Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) and The Green Lantern Corps.

Cambell has already hinted that Sinestro (Mark Strong) and Star Sapphire (Blake Lively) could be future villains.

Where they could take the Green Lantern from there is wide open. Could the Black Lanterns be a possibility?

EDITOR NOTE: This "confirmation" comes from a blog with no verifiable quotes from Campbell, so let's just say it's likely that if Green Lantern does well that more movies will follow and leave it at that.

As cool as they are, I think the Black Lanterns are much to recent an addition to the GL mythos to get movie treatment. A trilogy would be good for a movie of this caliber. There are many stories to be told and they should be done right and over a length of time.

I can see Sinestro or Sapphire as the villain(s) for GL 2-3. I'd also like to see Parallax make an appearance, but preferably for GL 3.

villains I would like to see in the Green Lantern franchise
1. Sinestro (duh)
2. Star Sapphire (I know you guys would love to see Blake Lively wear the ultra-revealin Star Sapphire costume)
3. Black or red lanterns
4. The Manhunters

my guess 1st film is Hector Hammond and Legion
2nd film is Sinestro and maybe Star Saphire
3rd films Sinestro Corps vs. Green Lantern Corps!

I'm sure there is an opton for three films but unless it makes enough money don't count on it. So as long as its good we need to go see in theaters a couple times each to insure that we get the sequels we want.

why just a trilogy? i think they should sign everyone up for 9 or 10 films or maybe more! and make about 8+ films superhero films every year! i don't really care if the flood the market we need some superheros flying around or swinging or telaporting, or what ever! 10+great Superhero films per year=happy comicbook fans! yay!

This doesn't shock me. Every movie deal of this ilk has a standard 3 movie contract for the actors and director, you never sign for a single movie in this genre.

As for more than 3 movies, well there will be. They just sign people on for 3 to test the waters, if fans take to it then they will carry on, if someone bombs then they can revise the situation.

@Hawksblueyes

yeah Campbell has mentioned this stuff in video interviews...I didn't have the links at the time but I could have stuff updated by Monday...He did lots of pointless press for Edge of Darkness so finding the quotes could be hard...I'm shocked you guys didn't already report on this stuff....the point of my article was just to show how epic these films could be once they get the origin out of the way...

personally I don't think Blake Lively would make a very good Star Sapphire...I would expect that Sinestro and the Black/Red Lanterns would be the villains in the sequels..that one is just speculation on my part

Blackest Night would not work since it is a DC main event. Unless they wanna put Superman in it also.

New Idea!
1st-Atrocitus/Hector Hammond-John is a supporting character.
2nd-Sinestro/Star Sapphire/Black Hand-John/Guy as GL's.Parallax gets Hal.Sinestro's recruiting
3rd-Corp War-Kyle Rayner,John, and Guy try to get Hal back from the dead.

I'm thinking they would probably build towards an epic battle with the Yellow and Green Lanterns. But again this will all depend on how good the first Green Lantern film really is.

I think, for the most part, he's getting ahead of himself.

This was, pretty much, expected. I mean, more than likely, "Green Lantern" is going to rock the box office. So, they'd need to make more.
I just hope that Ryan is still able to do "Deadpool". I know that he wants to do the character the right way, and I know that I want him to, as well.

@SolidSnake: It would make an epic animated film, though.

It would be cool have more than a trilogy most CBMS are trilogies, I think it would be great for these movies to be more. In my opinion, they are the only films that deserve it. There are so many stories. I think it would be great if Batman had three or four more films. Six is a good number. The trick is to keep the core actors and keep great writers and directors. Of course in Hollywood that can be the most difficult thing to do.
