I saw Green Lantern last night and was very very pleased. GL rocked! I heard some of the negative reviews and I tell ya, people will bitch about ANYTHING.

Green Lantern gets 10 lanterns from me! Great action, great fun, great CBM!

The film wasn't the "abomination" some made it out to be BUT it was disappointing plot wise. The biggest glaring plot hole mistake that hit me in the face was, why did Hal fly all the way back to Oa to ask permission to go back to Earth in order to defend it against Parallax?

Hawks, obviously cause his insecure ass needed a pat sayin' "good boy" or else it would have made too much sense otherwise. He's not afraid of being afraid but he's afraid of being responsible and taking any initiative. Brilliant. My hero. *sigh*

The film was watchable but not memorable. They could drop Blake, keep the rest of the staff, write a solid script and choose a director that can harness the aurora of the GL universe and convert it to the big screen.

@Bigshow; That's what I'm saying! She didn't even get angry or show any animosity. Not even a "Hal, Wait" or "Hal, where are you going?"
AC1
AC1 - 6/23/2011, 7:08 AM
@bigshow2321 that was because of what happened when he was in the plane. I'm guessing that witnessing his dads death in a similar situation when he was 9 really traumatised him, so when Carol asked him about it, it made him think about it all over again. When he was in the plane, he choked thinking about it. When he was with Carol, he had to leave after being reminded (unintentionally) about it.
That made sense, but I agree, it's something they shouldve touched upon when we next saw them both share a scene.

I was also surprised with Blake's performance, she was actually better than I thought she'd be IMO. Dunno if she would be good enough to play Star Sapphire in the future, but she was fine as Carol, especially as the film progressed.

I thought it was great. Not near as bad as the critics make it sound, but still not as good as my expectations were (especially after the Wondercon trailer debuted). A sequel would be awesome.

There should be another choice, like "Did not watch this movie" Because i did not watch this movie. I won't keep paying DC/WB to pump crap down my neck. The only good DC movies were batman and batman the dark night. I had a friend come to my house to watch the watchmen, so that way i didn't have to pay anything besides electricity to watch it and i still regret it.

Watchable, but not near up to scratch.

should of been set in outer space,the scenes on earth were piss poor.

apart from hal vs parallax.

LMFAO!

True, right there they look nothing alike. But the mere resembleance or evocation of the concept make me cringe either way.

@N I am saying that just like the after credit scene in TIH being after Iron-Man 2 even though TIH came out way before, no telling when the after the credit scene takes place in GL I see it as a flash forward.

Wow... Why does movie companies not take fanboys too seriously...? Because of stuff like people coming on here to bash a movie they haven't even seen because of some STUPID DC/Marvel fanboy war...

Dmon - 6/23/2011, 8:22 AM
@BorisSenna have you ever read Emerald Dawn I. The bad guy in that, Legion, after his suit is destroyed becomes a huge globular mass. I see Parallax in GL being a combination of Parallax, Krona and Legion (with the suit off).

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY

I'm with you, dude.

Leave Earth and your loved ones to go ask for help to deal with a guy YOU KNOW, who grew up with you, who you could find if you followed any sort of police procedure.
Cross half a Universe, get denied and then ask if they'll let you just go back alone and do something about it.

YOU WERE ALREADY THERE, BUNGHOLE! It's not like the ring wasn't working, or would stop if you tried to use it, or the Guardians gave you some great insight on how to fight the monster. You just wasted another five minutes of my life!

I found myself yelling at the screen quite a bit through this, I'm a little ashamed to admit...

Also everyone that does not know Green Lantern and says how could Hal Jordan take on Parallax by himself when the other GLs could not. Well I too would have liked to have seen Kilowog, Tomar Re and Sinestro jump in sooner but Hal is special he is the first and only GL to ever go directly into the Central Power Battery and he did it twice. The first time he was even a rookie.

@Dmon

I just ain't down with this piddly-ass attempts to recreate villains whose "look" film-makers decide won't "work" onscreen, in general.

If he was an amalgamation of three villains, two of them great (Big Yellow Bastard and Krona), one of them classic (Krona again) and I'll admit to not knowing this Legion guy, then you gotta admit that they wasted the potential of ALL of them.

Just saying. Parallax = Cool. Krona = UbberCool. Legion = SOUNDS cool. Parallax + Krona + Legion is an equation were the sum is a heck of a lot less then the sum of the parts (sorta like the Sebastian Shaw/Mr. Sinister amalgamtion in XMFC)

@BorisSenna on that scene were he goes back for help I too would have liked more explanation then they gave for the general audience sake. But the Guardians are pricks in the comics, why they would not have allowed Hal to go back is because they would have rather sacrificed Earth and have Hal stay on OA so they would have an extra GL to defend themselves against Parallax. This movies biggest fault was that it seems a lot of stuff was left on the cutting room floor.
BorisSenna
BorisSenna - 6/23/2011, 8:43 AM
@Dmon

That makes no sense whatsoever! Parallax is said to absorb the fear of the civilizations he consumes to become stronger.

The ONLY thing that makes sense to attack him and stop him AS SOON AS [frick]ING POSSIBLE.

They'd do that if they had some plan in place where the delay would be owrth it, but why would they sacrifice anything if that'd empower the enemy. Piss poor writing preying on the pre-conceived expectation of the audience. Lazy

Too uneven and silly. Didn't like it at all

but this movie did do something for me, I now want to read more GL comics because I know he's an awesome character, I just think he should of had a better movie, it could have been epic.

Dmon - 6/23/2011, 8:52 AM
@BorisSenna Well even in the comics the guardians are uber intelligent but not really that smart if you know what I mean. Plus their plan was to use Yellow Rings.
BorisSenna
BorisSenna - 6/23/2011, 9:03 AM
@Dmon

No, their plan was to sit there and look blue. Sinestro's plan was to make the ring. AND THEY WENT FOR IT! That's neither intelligent, nor smart! LOL
