What will be the most memorable part of Green Lantern?

Ryan Reynolds, the man set to portray Hal Jordan, believes seeing the character out of costume will be just as memorable as seeing him soaring through space.

Josh Horowitz of MTV Movies recently asked Ryan Reynolds what aspect of the Green Lantern movie has him excited to play the lead role of Hal Jordan. Reynolds has this to say:

"I think you walk away from this first film, and the moments that you remember and the moments that mean so much to you, not unlike 'Iron Man,' are the moments where the guy's not in the suit,

That's a tough thing for them to get right, and that's something that they did get right. You see why this guy's in the suit, and that's what's most interesting to me; not that he's in the suit, but why."

For those of you wondering if we'll see Hal wearing jeans and a flight jacket for most of the movie, there's no need to worry. Reynolds explained a bit further:

"It is [an origin story] to a certain degree, but it's not a labored origin story, where the movie [truly] begins in the third act, The movie starts when it starts. We find out Hal is the guy fairly early on, and the adventure begins."

MPP - I don't know about you guys, but I'm paying to see Hal is his green suited glory. Green Lantern: First Flight nailed the tone. Hang the jacket up early and get to ring slinging!

Like I've always said, if this movie follows the comic Green Lantern: Secret Origin, it will be a monster hit.

Hmmm, this sounds like we're going to see him out of costume for a lot of the movie maybe??? Hmmm not good.

Well atleast we've got the TRUE GREEN LANTERN (HAL JORDAN) like it should be for GL 1!!

Lets just hope REYNOLDS don't [frick] it up and use his TRADEMARK SMILE or one liners and this will be SPACE EPIC stuff!!!

Awesome, an origin showcase for about 1/3 of the movie, then it kicks into high gear and goes full on epic in space. Sounds pretty much perfect for the first GL movie.

I know quite a few people hate him as GL, but Ryan's going to be a great Hal IMO. He's a great actor, and Martin Campbell's directing him. Win-win in my book.

Every word I hear about this movie is fricking slick and SICK!

Not spending too much time on the origin? Damn... somebody on this project is thinking.

I think the most memorable aspect of this film will be that, like Predators, the people had the brains and the vision to put this story happening at least partially soemwhere else besides Earth.

Seeing this dude zip around the universe, hob nobing with alien races and non humans... THAT apect broadens this movie from being just another super hero movie to being more like Star Wars meets Superman. It will be wilder and more amazing

I am so excited about this movie. My only worry is that Ryan has a very light voice and when I think of Hal I hear the old 70's Superfriends voice, that really deep kick ass voice. Thats what I am really worried about. That and Ryan is a "funny" guy and Hal is very serious.

I'm not entirely sold on Reynolds yet. I don't want to beat a dead horse but Fillion was born for that role.

Please let this be good!!

I'd really like to get a look at the costume for this movie. I wonder how faithful it will be.

"You see why this guy's in the suit, and that's what's most interesting to me; not that he's in the suit, but why."

YES!!!!

Producers of any upcoming Superman reboot TAKE NOTE!

I love GL but I hope that the movie isn't like FIRST FLIGHT. They were only on Earth for like two seconds in that movie and there was little to no exposition.
They never explained how Jordan just magically knew how to use the ring. And it was really stupid how he just took all of that intergalactic crap in stride like it was no big deal.

multi- you got that right I can't wait to see him
in the suit! I really liked the movie
First Flight and I hope they do it
(somewhat) like that!

I think the first half-hour should be the "origin" where he's wearing the flight jacket and jeans and the rest all in green lantern glory!

Secret Origins is spectacular. It would be a perfect first act to the film.

Ryan seems to be taking the role seriously, from the sparse interviews about the role, he seems pretty educated with the character and excited for the film, so I highly doubt he won't take it seriously.

Phinehas: I prefer Whispery Worthington, or Unworthington, etc. ;)

Multi: Well said.

Chris Pine was my first choice for Hal, but Ryan will still do great.

Worthington for Carol Ferris :)
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 11/30/2009, 3:53 PM

Why a triology (or trilogy for that matter)??? Make it a serial! Hal Jordan has a great story that could span many many films. That would be better than just 3!!!

you guys are right the "secret Origin" arc would be perfect to translate into a movie!

JOSH- I know you don't read DC but you should read
GL Secret Origin to get you prepped before the
movie! I think it's a 6 or 7 part arc and it
really was EPIC!
