“GREEN LANTERN” SHINES BRIGHT AT WONDERCON

Stars of the Upcoming Film—Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard—Kick Off the Weekend and the Super Hero’s Multi-Platform Presence at the Con

Following the opening day panel, Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps will have a deep and diverse presence throughout the weekend due to the combined efforts of DC Entertainment (DCE) and the various divisions of Warner Bros. Entertainment, including Warner Home Video (WHV), Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) and Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP).

BURBANK, CA, March 7, 2011 – Fans attending on Friday, April 1st, the first day of WonderCon, will be treated to a special “Green Lantern” talent signing and panel featuring stars of the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures feature film: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard. The signing begins at 4 p.m., followed by the panel discussion at 5.

The highly anticipated “Green Lantern” movie, in theatres on June 17, 2011, will be the first live-action feature film to star the popular DC Comics character. The film relates the origin story of alter ego Hal Jordan (Reynolds), a test pilot and the first human chosen to wear the ring that provides him his superpowers.

WHV will present the World Premiere of the Blu-ray and DVD feature “Green Lantern: Emerald Knights” on Friday evening in the Esplanade Ballroom, immediately followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmakers and voice cast members. Panelists will also take part in an autograph session on Saturday. The all new DC Universe Animated Original Movie weaves six interlocking stories of the Green Lantern Corps’ rich mythology around preparations for an attack by an ancient enemy.

Also on Friday, DC Comics will host a panel about the Green Lantern comic books and the 2011 War of the Green Lanterns crossover event. The DC booth will host Green Lantern-themed signings and giveaways throughout the weekend.

WBIE and DCE will showcase “Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters,” an action-adventure videogame that will be available in conjunction with the theatrical release of “Green Lantern.” Throughout the Con, visitors to the DC Comics booth will be able to get hands-on time with the game that delivers an immersive experience for Green Lantern fans of all ages.

WBCP’s worldwide licensing program for the highly anticipated “Green Lantern” film has already taken the industry by storm. Product manufacturers around the world have come together to capture and unleash the power of Green Lantern, who lit the way at this year’s Toy Fair, with master toy licensee Mattel bringing to life a comprehensive toy line inspired by the upcoming film. Visitors at WonderCon will get a sneak peek of the toy line, along with the opportunity to be “chosen” to win some of the popular products, long before they hit retail shelves.

All this and more begins with the “Green Lantern” signing at 4 p.m. and panel at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011. WonderCon opens the doors to the main floor at noon. The event runs all weekend, through Sunday, April 3rd, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Go to http://www.comic-con.org/wc/ for tickets to the “Green Lantern” opening day panel and for information about all of the Warner Bros.- and DC Entertainment-related events.

With Wondercon right around the corner, Green Lantern remains scheduled for theaters June 17!

Cool! I just love listening to Mark Strong talking about Green Lantern. It's gonna be an amazing film!

It's so fascinating how understanding he is of Sinestro. Green Lantern is gonna be a great summer film, and even greater CBM!

That's probably going to be featured in the London Comicon, which is being sponsored by the film franchise.

Read the article. The event is on April 1st. A whole week after we get a new trailer. If they debuted a trailer there we'd have to wait longer.

@ boostergirl

& your point being, green lantern is due out 17th jun 2011 & captain america is due for release 22nd july 2011.

so really we should be seeing a green latern trailer before captain america.

This is the underdog of the big three coming out. I've heard some people say they saw a new GL trailer. It's more serious, more action-oriented, less comedy, and the CGI is amazing. Apparently they're testing out three new trailers now, if what I heard is true.

Still my #1 pick!

I read that recently as well from a few sources that are apparently in the industry. WB knows that the new trailer has to knock our socks off, I have no doubts.

@marvel- Green Lantern had a trailer 7 months before release. Captain America is 4 months from release and we haven't had one.

@ angelus

at the moment mark strong as sinestro is the only part of this movie i'm dying to see.

his gonna be the movies money shot or scene stealer.

@ roscoefolgers

it was piss poor trailer to be honest with ya & i believe it was rush released to rival the thor trailer.

GL is a relatively unknown character for the movie-goers. I mean the trailer was with Harry Potter, which WB plans to make DC movies since HP is ending. I understand they wanted to put it with that, since it's one of the biggest franchises out. The trailer was decent. It had some great moments. But I have a great feeling about the next one.

@CeramycTyle - I have no doubts either! Just pure excitement! :D
RoscoeFolgers
RoscoeFolgers - 3/7/2011, 5:25 PM
@Marvel- So? It's still a trailer and plenty of people feel differently than you. And why would they put out a trailer to compete with Thor? It's not like they're going to be competing and the studios aren't fanboys who think "We gotta one-up 'em!" All they care about is their own movies doing well. Releasing a trailer at the same time just to rival another trailer is about the dumbest business decision I've ever heard. And the trailers debuted a month apart. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't good and just because you don't like it doesn't mean they had any motives other than releasing a trailer for a movie.

@Otisburg- ... Wow. What Captain America trailer blew it out of the water? They aren't trying to one-up Thor or Cap. Each movie will have finished it's run before the next one releases. What is so hard to realize about that?

I know it makes me sound like a DC fanboy. I have no preferred company, but I do hate stupidity and mostly these hardcore Marvel fans who for some reason need to validate themselves by making up claims that they're trying to damage control when no damage was done or saying they're trying to compete exhibit it the most. Both companies make good comics and both companies make good movies. Enjoy them or don't watch them. Don't make things up.

TY @ Roscoe, when you sit there and think about all three movies the depth of the GL far surpasses, others. as strong put it in the interview we are looking at the trailer and the movie sounded like it wasnt even 50% finish filming not even the post productions, fight scenes are going to be great, good/bad cgi, something that thor nor cap can even compete with. letting go my love for the GL i can still honestly say i would see the Green Lantern before any other movie this summer.

Bring on the second trailer! I want it to be freaking epic! I am tired of waiting for this damn thing. The more I wait the more worried I get about the movie. *prays to the DC gods that the second trailer gets released this or next week*
